new computer...

Pardon me if this is a basic question, however I can't seem to find the answer...

I own ootp 6 and plan to get a new computer in the next month...

does anyone have a link or the time to explain how I would be able to download the game on my new computer...

thanks in advance

Well, this is how I did things. I use my laptop like 90% of the time but I recently bought a desktop because my older one just wasn't cutting it anymore. When you buy OOTP6 you get three licenses to use for the game.

All I did was download the game as usual onto the computer like I did for my laptop. For all my files and stuff I just got on my laptop and emailed the files to myself. I then got on my desktop and opened the files. I have broadband so it didn't take too long at all.

I'm assuming you could also burn the files to a CD and carry them over to the new system as well or if you have a removable memory stick/card/whatever you can do that as well if there is enough space on it. Hope that helps!

Don't forget to unlicense the game from the old PC if you want to have that 2nd one available.

Just to clarify, you only get two licenses, not three.

thanks guys

hey joerock

i thought about burning it onto a cd but - in the ootp folder there doesn't seem to be an icon or folder to reinstall the game....
therefore it seems I need to use my second license then unlicense my first copy

You can unlicense first if you'd like, but you just won't be able to open the game up until you re-license it again. By the way, if you have a fairly quick internet connection, I'd just download the game, again (you don't need the license to download, only to install and run) and copy over your .lg file via CD-R or some other technique.

Yeah, I was bummed when they went from 3 to 2. I liked being able to have it on my desktop, my laptop, and at work.

Are you going to keep both your old computer and new one? If so, you could just connect them and transfer your league files over through the backup/restore option.

If not, then just do a league backup to a CD from your old computer, unlicense OOTP6 on the old computer, install OOTP6 and license on the new computer, run the restore league from the new computer OOTP6.
