Exporting and importing csv files will work?
This is just to double-check, and clarify for myself: one can export an OotP league’s player data as a csv file (using the advanced League settings menu), manipulate it (for example, changing all the players’ places of birth to ‘Japan’), then import it back into the game safely?
I knew this worked in theory, but I didn’t know how extensively anyone had tested it. |

It will work. However, keep in mind that all players will be placed in the minors when you import them back in. As always, make a backup before you do this just in case.

When I import the csv back into the game, all the league’s players will have been demoted into the minors?
So the best time to use the csv-transplant method of changing player data is when one first creates a league, in order to prevent disrupting the league? |

Last night I was having luck with export/edit/import immediately after generating a league but before doing anything like initial draft (some details on like pg 2 or 3 of that "does defense matter" thread).
I plan on now trying to test this a little more. Specifically, I want to try making a league with no player then importing csv files I make. I'm figuring it won't work, but I'd like see for sure. [EDIT: Yes, trying this crashed the game. Guess there's no good reason to do this. I figure you need to just stick with the players generated by the game.]
