I just uploaded my fictional Texas League to BBSC

I just uploaded my fictional Texas League to BBSC. It should be available there soon. Sixteen teams with logos, named minor league teams, and named managers, and designed to be used with Teflon Skies wonderful fictional stadiums. Scouts and finances are off. 0-100 ratings are on and hidden. Stars are off. Download and enjoy.

...and, of course, not posted yet. BBSC never does anything with undue haste, do they?

The webmaster lives in Japan and works fulltime. Some people do have lives you know? Have some patience.

Hmmm, sounds like the league I'm currently playing. I made a 16 team Texas League as well featuring 4 cities from each of the main 4 regions. Would upload mine as well, but don't still have the Year 1 stuff.

Malleus, thanks for the work on this - I'm a big fictional guy myself, but I know a lot of people shy away from it because they're not the easiest things in the world to start. Since your file has logos and minor league teams and all that taken care of, it should go a long way to helping those inexperienced with fictional leagues?

One question - are there any players in your league or did you choose not to create any?

There are players and they've been drafted. You can release and redraft if you like.

Oh, and all the players have American home towns and were generated with my historical name generation file set.

I have another fictional league, this one national, and also a hybrid derivative Malleus-Gambo-Frohike-four-or-five-other-guys-too 1964 historical league almost ready to go to BBSC. I'll probably upload them both early next week.

Sounds like a great league, MD.

I'm not very computer-literate...do you just download it by extracting it like stadiums?

Have you set pitching rotations, lineups, pinchhitters, all the various settings?

Does it require any editing or setup?

Not lazy, just wondering. I am a Hall of Famer at editing ratings and doing manual schedules.

It would be nice just to play a league.

Oh, yeah...is the schedule balanced?

Mister Malleus Dei...please don't chew me out for asking these questions...please.

Eugene:

There's a readme.txt file inside that tells you how to install it. I will reproduce it below for you:

================================================

Texas League for OOTP6

Here's a small (16 team) fictional league for your pleasure, with logos, named minor league teams, and named managers. This league is designed for use with Teflon Skies wonderful fictional stadiums (which are to be found at http://files.simcentral.net/index/Detailed/2925.shtml and yes, they work with OOTP6); to get the stadiums, download them, convert them to .bmp files, and place the stadium .bmp files into your /OOTP6/graphics directory.

Scouts and finances are off. 0-100 ratings are on and hidden. Stars are off. Why? Because the game's much more challenging that way. If you feel the need to change the settings, well, have the Hell at it.

Christ only knows who is due credit for the logos. I made a couple of them myself and the rest were just laying around. If you designed one of these logos, thank you thank you, and if you want listed credit for it, great, just email me and I'll give it to you.

To install: unzip the .zip file to your OOTP6 directory, with "use subfolders" or "use directories" or however your unzipping utility refers to it turned ON. Don't forget to get Teflon Sky's fictional stadium set.

I make these files available for the public's use only at the public's own risk. I assume no risk or responsibility for any damage or events (or anything else that even the sleaziest lawyer can think of) associated with anyone's use, misuse, or abuse of these files: use is totally at your own risk. If you use these files and your computer explodes, Windows won't boot, OOTP6 will no longer run, your Internet connection goes south, your house is attacked by Formosan Termites, the Braves don't make the playoffs, religious images appear on your bathroom mirrors, unseen creatures from the Dungeon Dimensions drag your family members away screaming in the night, or anything else of any kind goes wrong afterwards, don't bother me about it, because you're on your own, fool.

Yes...but you can change them all, or even redraft the players. Or even generate new ones. Have at it.

It runs fine right out of the box. Scouts and stars are off, and ratings are hidden. Heh heh heh. Finances are off, too - draft and trade wisely!

Redo the schedule if you like! I promise not to complain!

2 leagues, 16 teams, 154 games. You tell *me*.

Thanks for doing this league.

It sounds like a great way for a Newbie to get initiated into a great game...and for a "tired of creating leagues, entering data and editing ratings, getting logos created and manually creating schedules" Oldie.

And thanks for your response.

I will really enjoy a wonderful TURNKEY league.

I'm still running test leagues in OOTP6 prior to importing my OOTP5 fictional league....and still have 12 rosters to put together and edit ratings for my Alltime Allstar League.

In the meantime, I'll take a wonderful break playing your league.

If you used the default schedule generator or Stickware to create the schedule, it is highly unlikely that you ended up with 22 games against each league opponent.

Well, if not, then Eugene can whip up a new one and I'll put out a version 2 with that schedule in it. No biggie.

Well, it looks like I have some work to do on a schedule.

It will be 11 games home...11 games away...for each team's opponents...with realistic offdays, too.

I use doubleheaders in my league, so some people might not want it.

Will let you know when I finish it?

Won't be real soon.

I was going to start your league in the next day or two...but this will slow me down.
