OK, so I spent all this time trying to put together the 1969 schedule... the actual schedule, which compared to our times, is LOADED with double-headers.
Here is what I have found with Double Headers... 1. I tried to set two games with very different start times (1 and 7) and I would have the same two pitchers go... That is not good. ![]() 2. I tried to sim each game individually. I would still have the same two pitchers go... That is not good. ![]() 3. I tried to sim each game individually, but in between games I would check the standings and team pages. I would still have the same two pitchers go... That is not good. ![]() 4. I have not had the simulator crash and the stats for both games seem to be compiling nicely... that is good! ![]() 5. I changed the pitching staffs of the teams to strict order starts. I don't know if the computer controlled teams switched these back during the sim, but I would still get the same starter going twice... that is not good. Well, just thought I would throw this out there for those who want to spend the time putting together an actually schedule... those double headers are a bear! Good luck trying to code in this one... my guess is that there would have to be an (A) and a (B) schedule for double headers, that way the simulator can compile the stats from that day, replay that day, but only with the double-header games, and add those fatigue numbers and stats to the list. Whew.

Check this forum thread out: http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...s&pagenumber=3
Look for the posts by fearofmimes on page 3 of the thread; he did some fairly extensive tests on doubleheaders. In a nutshell, start times have no effect on the doubleheader results, as the game simply processes one game of the schedule at a time. The pitcher use issue you're having relates to fatigue issues, where the fatigue generated by the players playing in a game is only updated by OOTP at the end of a day rather than at the end of each game. As a result, a pitcher sometimes winds up pitching both games of the twin bill because his fatigue wasn't updated after the first game. By the way, I've already got ALL of the actual MLB schedules and a ton of the minor league ones. Just check out the Retrosheet web site to see what has already been made available officially. Now we just need to convince Markus to support the Retrosheet schedule file format in the OOTP6 schedule importer/exporter...

I use doubleheaders in my OOTP5 solo league...control all teams...and make my own schedule.
I'm still setting up my OOTP6 league rosters, so it will be about 2 weeks before I get into the new version. I sim or play out games one at a time. I select pitchers for each game to avoid pitchers pitching both games of twinbill. Only negative is minor: On the HTML Player Report in the last ten games section, it lists the first game score for the second game, too. But it does list stats for the first and second games...only the score of the second game is incorrect. All stats are accumulated and all team wins and losses are acculated. It really add a great element to the game. You really have to handle your pitching staff closely. It also allow to have relievers start, which is not possible in OOTPB. I don't use the spot starter slot any longer. I don't play the Allstar Game as it has been mentioned to cause problems. Last edited by Eugene Church; 05-05-2004 at 05:10 PM. |

Problem with selecting pitchers for each game is when I want to run an online league, I don't want to have to change pitchers for the other owners.
For solo leagues, I see where this would work well, though crude.
