CBL 2.0 Roster Help
As a newcomer to OOTP, I'm considering getting OOTP 6 but I noticed that OOTP uses fictional players and team names. I downloaded CBL 2.0 roster pack and in the readme he mentioned the following: " Please keep in mind however that OOTP does NOT recognize names, just rating." Does that mean when simming, managing, or displaying statistics the game will ignore the real names listed in CBL 2.0 and continue to use fictional names? Do you know of any utility or roster set that will allow OOTP 6 to use real names when displaying stats and stuff, or is it permanently set? Also, is it possible to alter the team names so when your viewing standings and such you can actually see "MLB team names" rather than fictional team names, or is that also permanently set? Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

The CBL set will give all the real names and appropriate ratings for the players. When it says that names are not recognized, it means that the AI in the game does not go by name, but by the player's raw data, talent, whatever. This will give you a very satisfying gaming experience. Look at the sticky for addons - a lot of great ideas to enhance your game even more.
Someone else might have more to add to it, but this is the way I understand it. John CBL will also take care of team names, etc. It is a complete set for 2004. Schedule and everything

This isn't Diamond Mind Baseball; in OOTP what you expect to get may very well not be what you get.
It's more fun that way.

Maybe best put this way....
DMB is "designed" to replicate players as close as possible to their actual statistics. OOTP is "designed" to provide players with similar abilities and then let them follow a varying career path. Thus.... DMB will nearly duplicate the player's history and OOTP will only come close (most of the time). Two different games for two different needs. Henry |
