Opening screen

I altered the opening OOTP6 screen to match (as closely as I could) the Wood Maple skin. Not sure how popular a meaningless graphic like this would be, but I don't like the look of the new screen, and I like the look of the Wood Maple. So, if any of you are as bothered by the new screen as I am, here you go.

Screenshot from in game (shrunken, so it doesn't look as good):

Just place that in the main graphics folder, and make sure you back up a copy of the original.

Interesting. When I first loaded OOTP, I settled on using the blue skin, but thought the background sucked, so I fired up Irfanview and dropped the contrast and brightness so it's a lot darker. Looks far nicer.

I like the look of version 5 better for some reason. Not sure why.

Yeah, I just replaced the background with a plain dark green background. Anything back there other than solid color is just really distracting to me.

To complement the maple skin, I found some wood texture pics and picked the one that worked best. Then I just stretched it out to 1024x768.

I noticed that too mats. It took me about six attempts to get the background dark enough to look good. Now I can still see the guy back there, but it's mostly black. It's very subtle. I don't like having an entirely plain background, but I also can't stand that default one
