Position Confusion

Got an issue on my team. I've got Hank Blalock, who's listed for 3rd base primarily, but also has ratings for second base. I've acquirred Pokey Reese, who only has ratings for second base. Pokey won the Gold Glove at 2nd in my league last year. When I run the Depth Charts, the AI insists on putting Reese at 3B, which he has no ratings for, and puts Blalock at 2B.

Any ideas as to why this is happening??

Who is better defensively at 2B?

Either way, I still think it is a bug. I don't think it should be putting Reese at 3B.

One other thing, what is Blalock's primary position listed as? If he's listed as 2B, the this could be a reason why.

Reese. He's rated a 5, and won the GG the previous season. Reese has a .988 %, and Blalock has a .956.

The thing that really blows my mind is why does the system put Reese at 3B, when he has no rating, when there are other 3B's on the roster?

Primary positions are Blalock 3b, Reese 2B.

There was an earlier thread that brought this issue up, where the AI is going position by position and deciding who's best at each spot but not revisiting it later in case there's a better fit elsewhere. In your situation, the computer decided catcher, then first base, and then when presented with a choice between Blalock and Reese, it decided Blalock was a better player. Then the computer picked a shortstop, but when it came to third base, the best third-baseman had already been given a spot, so it got "creative" and assigned Reese.

Hopefully the patch that's scheduled to be released today will fix this bug.

I think, as someone stated earlier, OOTP goes through from C to RF and chooses the best player at each position (not just defensively), so 2B would come before 3B. This happens even if it is not the player's primary position. Hopefully, this will be changed in the patch.

That appears to be the only thing that "makes sense". That definitely needs to be fixed. Of all the ways to choose a lineup, that's pathetic.

Does anyone have a clue as to when "Da Patch" will be posted and in which forum or thread? Also, will there be a summary of the fixes and other misc improvements? I hate to admit it but I'm having OOTP withdrawals! I may have to visit a de-tox ctr after work today.

Does anyone know what effect upon the game the "Player Evaluation" menu in the League Setup Menu under the engine setup has on player performance? Would this have any effect on "historical" players. For historical players, should "ratings" be at 100% and the other years at 0%?

I think OOTP should run for prez, with Markus as vice. Makes more sense to me. I still think Fidel has my vote though.

Doesn't Markus live in Germany? I thought I heard about this once. Kind of hard to be president when you are not a citizen of the US. And besides if it isn't broke do not fix it, Markus is doing a great job making OOTP each year and soon Bush will be out of office...
