Dumb Question About the Patch

In it Markus states there will be:

<QUOTE>- Refined player development</QUOTE>

This is a two part, dumb question.

Part 1 - If you are in the middle of a league and run the patch, you do not need to start a new season for this to take effect, do you?

Part 2 - About the import from 5 - 6 issue, with too many players with 10 in stuff. Will his be fixed and if so will you have to reimport your league to make it take effect?

That's not a dumb question about the patch. A dumb question about the patch would be "Will the patch do my laundry?"

Gibson swings, and a fly ball to deep right field! This is gonna be a home run! Unbelievable! A home run for Gibson! And the Dodgers have won the game, 5 to 4; I don't believe what I just saw! I don't believe what I just saw!

Thanks for the support...

I guess a dumb question would have been asking "When is the patch going to be released?" LOL

part one - you do not have to restart your league. the refined development will take effect with the patch and affect your players from that day forward.

part two - don't recall if i saw that this was being address with this patch, but i would assume if it was fixed/modified that you would have to re-import from your v5 league to see better results.

That would make sense to me too, but here is an idea that I had I was wondering if it would work if they do make that you have ti import from 5 to fix it. If you reimport your league from the OOTP 5 file to a new league, export the csv's, and then import them into the league you are currently using.

Would that work?

no idea, but you can back up your league and then you can't hurt anything by trying!

1) For most features I don't think so, but for some things that are specific to the league start you might. (I would expect the player development to take effect immediately with the new batch of draftees)
2) Yes you'd have to reimport the league to see any changes that would fix the quality of the pitchers in the 5->6 league imports.

Am I just dumb, or are those great questions?

In particular, I'm interested in the answer to Part 1. Since Markus has already announced that a patch will be released on Wednesday, I'm not sure if I should progress beyond the "fooling around" phase with the new league I've just created. I'd hate to get addicted only to have to start from scratch tomorrow.

How did this work with OOTP5? Did you guys have to start from scratch each time a new patch was released?

Scott's answer above is correct. As far as previous versions, the changes made in this area were not as significant as they are this year. Also, it's not "critical" that you roll-back and start over - you'll just get slightly different results if you do.

So, will the patch do my laundry? It's starting to pile up.

Henry,

I understand Scott's answer to part 2, but I am a bit confused on part 1. Will the new patch effect players already created or just future players?

Thanks,

I would also like to know if the patch will help pay off my student loan? If not, then I would like to say I am very disappointed that working on ITP last year has not left Markus with enough time to put this into the first patch.

Changes to the game engine will affect all players in the game.
