Two things I'd like to see with the coaches contracts and hiring system:
1. The option to negotiate contract extentions with existing coaches; and, 2. The ability to negotiate contracts with new coaches (if a better one becomes available) before having to fire the old coach. This would impact the pre-season coach hiring period the most. Thanks for a great game!

I was looking at the roster of the only human controlled team in my 16-team fictional league with all ratings at zero. That is when I realized my scouting director was gone, and I too didn't remember his name.

It would be nice for coaches' and scouts' contracts to behave exactly like players' contracts, with extensions, e-mails, and a listing in the "Possible Free Agents" area of the Roster screen.
What would be even better would be for scouts to have a career history, showing what team they worked for in a given year, and appropriate stats (Team AVG/OPS/W-L for hitting coaches, team ERA/W-L for pitching coaches, team W-L for scouting directors, and team W-L at A, AA, and AAA levels for minor league managers). I thought for a second about suggesting hiding staff ratings, so masochistic players could only gauge a candidate's ability through prior history, but I don't want to blow whatever credibility I have left.

One thing that kind of bothered me was I had a coach for three years, and I figured he was a good coach and I'd try to sign him again, but when I went to give him an offer, he told me "I don't like your organization!". I think that's rather odd, he was paid more than any of my other coaches, and it said he wanted to win, and my Cubs went to the playoffs. So I think he should want to come back.

I won the World Championship for three straight years, and I still had coaches turning me down, saying, "I want to work for a winning organization!"
Since it made the game a little more interesting, I didn't mind. Besides, it's not unprecedented; it's what Alex Rodriguez and Mike Hampton said last year when they left playoff teams for mega-contracts with last-place teams.

Heh heh. I think A-Rod's finally starting to realize that money just doesn't make up for losing so horribly.

I agree. I have lost very good coaches and then had to replace them with not so good ones. I've been paying closer attention now, but it would still be a good feature.

You could say that again.
Anyone else ever edit down the ratings of a coach that burned them out of spite? |

With your Bat we are ready to make a run at the playoffs.' Then they hid the Pitching Roster from him

Yeah well, now that the Cubs ex-pitching coach and Cubs ex-MR Todd Van Poppel are with Texas, they still don't have the stuff to make a playoff run. They have all the tools, the bullpen, batting, coaching, but the starting rotation just doesn't have the talent.
