Retrosheet game event files

Would it be possible to add the option to produce game event files in the format that Retrosheet uses? For those that have used retrosheet event files, you can imagine what kind of custom reports could be produced using these files.

I know that the game from the outside is done at-bat by at-bat, not pitch-by-pitch which is necessary for retrosheet format files.

Internally, if the game does go pitch-by-pitch, these files could be created rather easily in my own opinion.

I haven't looked the retro-sheet data files for a few years, but weren't they done on a "per-play" basis?

Meaning --- either some sort of AB, WP, SB, CS balk or pickoff.

I know the count was included, so I am sure the game could insert the count into the event that happened.

Yes, here is B.J. Surhoff flying out

play,9,0,surhb001,11,CBX,7/F7

9th inning, top half, player id, count (1 ball 1 strike) pitch sequence of called strike, ball, contact, Flyout to leftfield

and Todd Walker hitting a home run to right

play,9,1,walkt002,12,CFFBX,HR/F9.1-H

called strike, foul, foul, ball, contact, homer to right, runner from first comes home.

and Trot Nixon flying to deep right

play,2,1,nixot001,00,X,D7/F7

The pitch sequence is the only thing I see that could cause trouble, as I don't know if the game goes pitch by pitch internally. Also, the location of plays could be a problem as I don't know how the game manages that either.

A chart of locations on the field can be found at http://www.retrosheet.org/location.htm and more information on game event files is at http://www.retrosheet.org/game.htm
