Fastest to 500 HR
Ok,
My online league has been running for 3 real-life years and 7 in-game seasons [we started with OOTP3 and 2001 rosters]. Mark McGwire stuck around and broke the all-time HR record, ending his career with 864 HR. He played in Coors until he was forty, so I guess that will do it for ya. ![]() Anyways, we write articles and all of the GM's are very active and we just had A-Rod hit his 500th HR and he's 32. Now, I've searched high and low on baseballreference.com and through google.com and I can't find a single place that has a list of ages of players when they hit their 500th HR. I'm assuming A-Rod is the fastest ever [at 32] and we plan to make a big deal about it in the league -- but we don't wanna look like a bunch of morons, hyping something that isn't true. So, does anyone have a link or know where I can find a list that shows how old each player was when they reached 500 HR? Thanks a ton in advance! Jase |

I'd imagine you could figure it out pretty easily.
1) Get a list of guys with 500 HR. 2) Cross off anyone you just had to be older than 500 HR. 3) Subtract Season Totals from Career total untill you get 500 or less 4) Let me know if anyone is close 5) Let me know when you have an opening.....

![]() Once again, thanks for the link and the quick response. It's greatly appreciated and I've already sent the link out to my league so they can have a sports writer feast on it. ![]() I doubt it rivals our output when in our league Sosa tested postive for steroids though. Now that was a firestorm. But this should be fun and provide some good reading all the same. ![]() Jase |

But if you PM me with your AIM name or e-mail I'll keep your name handy in case something opens up down the line.In 3 years we've only went through about 41 GM's total [including the 28 still with us]. So the turnover is very, very low. Jase |

Arod has averaged 52HR's per year over the last 3 years and has 345 career hr's right now. If he averages 52 homers over the next 3 years he will hit number 501 the last week of season 2006 at 31years 3 mos of age. If he is 2 shy of this average add 6 months to his age when he gets it.
