Formula for midseason contract extentions?

Is there one?

Is there any way to determine how much a player would want if he's not asking for a specific price? Or how much less a player will take than his asking price if you offer more years, etc?

I always like to compare my player to other players at his position with similar stats and or ratings. Once you've found some players you can see how much they are getting and offer him something similar
