Anybody watching the UNC/Duke game??
33-30 UNC at halftime. What a great half of basketball! Well played on both ends, not too sloppy. McCants and Deng are outstanding, so much young talent on the court.

Wow, great game.
Just got back from the bonfire. Watch for me on replays of Sportscenter. I'll be the one wearing the "Go To Hell Carolina" shirt and a Duke hat. |

Yes, it was a fantastic game that went right down to the final minute. Deng really put on a show. The one cross over, the alley oop dunk, and the various reverse layups he had were spectacular. He's going to be one special player in college if he doesn't declare.

What a great game - I am very impressed by both teams - Duke is going to be so solid in the Tourney - With Stanford losing today, how does this effect the rankings and seedings for Duke and St. Joe's?

St Joes strength of schedule rating is like somewhere in the 40's the last time I looked..Stanford's was in the 80's or 90's-- plus Duke lost earlier in the week, so I'm pretty sure St joe's will be #1.
But I think St Joes is definitely overrated--they may get to the Sweet 16 due to getting favorable matchups from being a #1 seed, but they'll get bounced as soon as they face a legit top 15 team. |

St. Joe's will be #1.
Duke could be #2, but will likely be #3, 4 or 5. Stanford could be #2, but will likely be #3, 4 or 5. I see St. Joe's at #1, Gonzaga at #2, Duke at #3, Stanford at #4, Mississippi State at #5. I don't know if Stanford should fall that far, but late losses to unranked teams hurt a lot in the eyes of the voters. |

How many losses does Gonzaga have? 2? I doubt they would be higher than Stanford, since they have more losses and their conference is weak.

Don't count out St. Joe's guys, they have the best backcourt in the nation, period. It's all about matchups in the NCAA tourney and there are very few dominant big men in College Basketball this year (not like there have been a lot in the last 10 years anyways) so as long as St. Joe's doesn't run into Okafor I see no reason why they couldn't get to the final 4.
My Final 4 predictions: St. Joe's Duke UCONN Mississippi State That of course will most surely change as 2 of those teams will most likely be in the same region. |

My sleeper pick, Syracuse. They have won 5 in a row, including a win at Pitt and a win over UConn. I think the defending champs have enough horses back, even without Anthony, to make a run. Warrick is awesome. I thought he was every bit as important last year as Anthony.
UNC is another team nobody wants to see in their bracket. They have 3-4 solid NBA prospects on the floor at any time. I look for both UNC and the Cuse to be 4 seeds, very dangerous 4 seeds. I'd take either one over St Joes or Gonzaga in a heartbeat. I give credit to St Joes with that great backcourt, but come tourney time they are going to have a really hard time adjusting to the competition once they get into the Sweet 16. Teams like Duke, UNC, UConn, and Kentucky are used to playing top 20 teams damn near every game. It won't phase them in the least to play other tourney teams while St Joe's and Gonzaga will be sucking wind trying to keep up with the heightened tempo. I'm not saying they don't match up well with tourney teams, but they will not be used to the grind of tourney level competition.

Sure it won't be as easy, but I see only about 5 or 6 teams that pose as true matchup problems for them in the tourney. Jameer Nelson is the best guard in America and is a tough matchup for the opponents even if that opponent is UNC or Duke, he is a winner. We will have to wait and see what the bracket looks like when it comes out but I'd be shocked if they didn't make it to the elite 8. Most of the teams that you just mentioned will be top 3 seeds which they wouldn't have to play until that round.
