Oldest Player

I know some people have complained that their players have had too much of a downturn when they hit their mid thirties. How old is the oldest player you've had?

For a hitter, my oldest player was released at 45.

I just had a Starting pitcher who didn't get released until he was 48 years old. (Sadly, he needed only 6 more wins to get 500 and 19 more Ks for 5000)

Both players had a constitution of 5 and were Team Captain personalities. Neither had any luck, so that shouldn't have anything to do with it.

In both cases, saved my books until I saw my stats starting to go down. I have also noticed that late in a career, the stats often take a small dip, then go back up on their own. Usually right after an off season.

I never had your kind of success with aging, but I've get to 40 almost every time I play out an entire career.

My Pitcher now is 42(tied for my oldest I think), but I'm going to retire him. He just started a rapid ratings loss and I don't feel like continuing him and keeping up with the books.

I also don't know what the people are saying about drops in the mid thirties. 32-37 are usually my prime years.

My oldest was a pitcher who hit 46. He finished with 500 wins. Don't know the rest of his stats off the top of my head...the oldest position player was 44.

I had a knuckleball pitcher that lasted to 45, and may have been able to stick around one more year, but he'd already passed the 25 year limit, so I just retired. He was in decline anway. His career stats, if anyone is interested, are posted in the troubleshooting forum in the thread "wrong team name" due to a problem I had his last year.
