With the Pete Rose ordeal, this seems oddly appropriate and "wrongful" at the same time

It would be easy for the Expos to attract free agents. Especially those with gambling problems.

Las Vegas wanting a baseball team is like a hooker wanting to be a Nun.
Could happen but very unlikely.

I thought Washington was the deal? Can someone make up their mind on this team already?

Angelos will veto any move to Washington as the O's draw fans from there and he doesn't want the competition.

I thought the biggest hurdle was the fact that Washington didn't have a guaranteed stadium in their bid? Angelos might complain but last time I heard, the other owners could pony up some cash to help assauge the sting.

I'd love to see them in Vegas. Do people really think the fact that their is gambling in the city will really taint the integrity of the team? It could happen but it could happen just as much in any other city.

I think keeping a pro team out of Vegas is merely symbolic. There's legal gambling in New Jersey but they manage to have teams. There's legal gambling on the internet and various Reservations around the country. Shoot, there's legal gambling on riverboats the float right by Busch Stadium. Is it so much harder for a guy to place a legal bet in New Jersey or St. Louis than Las Vegas that this really makes a difference?

They could do like they do for college. It is illegal to bet on UNLV games in Vegas. Doesn't stop them from playing games though. And I know the Lakers have played exhibition games in Vegas, which I suspect had betting lines on them. It's just symbolic hogwash. Vegas is a large city with the fastest growing population in the country. I see no "real" reason for it not to have a sports team.

It won't happen (at least not with the Expos), but I don't see a problem with it.

^^^^^ Good to see Pete Rose isn't spending all his time trying to be reinstated.

Honestly, though...why should we fault a state full of fans just because gambling is legal?

I don't see the logic in that.

It is a market and one that undoubtedly will be successful. Is gambling a concern? Of course. But, if you worry about gambling than you should worry everyday. Can anyone honestly say that there aren't at least some major leaguers currently playing the game that don't gamble?

I wouldn't believe it if someone said no one gambles on the game.

I agree, and that's why it wouldn't bother me if they put a team in vegas. I think that if the put a football team in vegas, that would be worse, because I believe more people bet on football than baseball. But that's just me.
