Utility Players
Is it possible to play more than one position? I'd like to play a game as a utility player. . .like Denny Hocking!

Yes, it's possible, but you'll need OOTP5 to set it up. Basically:
1) Create your player, set a position, and run the draft 2) After the draft, copy your entire league folder from ITP into the OOTP5 directory 3) Open OOTP5, then open your ITP league 4) Find your player, and edit the Fielding parameters to add other positions. You'll still have to have a "main" position. 5) Save the league in OOTP5. Copy it back to the ITP directory, overwriting the old league folder. 6) Open the league in ITP and start playing. You'll notice your player plays multiple positions over the course of a season. He'll probably play most games at his main position, but will get in some games at the other ones as well. A few notes... 1) Don't do this before the draft. OOTP5 will assign you a rating of One Star, and you'll likely not get drafted in ITP and will have to sign as a FA sometime during the first season for $0 2) Since ITP has different gloves for Catcher, Infielder and Outfielder, you'll likely have to buy multiple gloves, and switch gloves in the pre-game interface when you know what position you are playing for that game. 3) If you just sim your games with the Advance buttons, you'll likely have more errors because you have the wrong glove on sometimes (just a guess). 4) I'm not sure about fielding improvement over the course of a career...i.e. if you improve across the board, or only at your main position. |
