Cato Question: Player Histories

I'm using 5.3.0.

My player histories are all screwed up, with the dates that a player was drafted being accelerated by 20-some years sometimes.

Where does the utility get the player histories from? I've looking the .csvs and the three .html files, but I can't figure out where it finds them. I'd like to know if there's something messed up in the export, or in the utility

I believe it gets them from the txt files themselves....
C:\ootp5\YourLeague.lg\League_News_Box\PLAYERS

So do I need to have my League backup for that year restored when I run Cato for that year?

I've basically got ZIPs of the CSVs and three .HTML files for each of my first 20 seasons, and I was going to run them through CATO. If I've got to restore the league for each year, this might take a while.

I always have problems with player histories and Cato. After a few years, it gives me an error.

Yeah, I know about ehe E_Fail error. I think it's related to players with a period in their last name. But I can't figure out why it's telling me that Willie St. Clair, who played from 1991-1999, was drafted in the 2nd Round in 2006, and won the Player of the Week in 2009.

OK, I'll give that a shot. I'm also going to change the names of everyone who's got a period in their name. St. Clair --> Saint Clair, for example. I'll post if that gets rid of the E_FAIL error.

Does anyone know where the player history comes from, I think it comes from the /league_news_file/player directory. I cleared that directory out and the import worked. I have been putting some files back and have it narrowed down to 125 files that might have a problem. I will continue to narrow it down and hopefully find what in what file is causing this error.
