OOTP History Problem - Error Defined
Hey guys,
I'm trying to get OOTP History to work for our online league because I REALLY want to see the Win Shares totals for the players. We are currently in the 2014 season and here's the problem: I backed up the season and simmed out the rest of the year until the game was at the "Proceed to Next Season" screen. At this point I created the OOTP History DB, used Commish Joe's utility and was ready to go. I imported the stats and then clicked Exit after the Team Abbreviation screen. Then I got the following error: Run Time Error '2147467259 (80004005) "The changes you requested to the table were not successful because they would create duplicate values in the index, primary key, or relationship. Change the data in the field or fields that contain duplicate data, remove the index, or redfine the index to permit duplicate entries and try again." Obviously I have no idea what this really means. A few ideas I have that might be causing this: 1. Do you need to use OOTP History at the very start of a Dynasty? As I said we're in 2014. 2. During the course of our league we have had several expansion teams (we started with 20 teams and now have 28) added and teams have relocated (thus changing team abbreviations). We have had no changes since the 2009 season, however. I created a test league and got the utility to work just fine after simming the first year, so it's definately something with our particular league that's doing this . Any ideas? I really want to get this sucker to work but I'm at the point where I'm completely stuck. thanks bill |

I think you need to run history for every year so your stats are imported but i dont think you have to output html files every year.
Are you using the career exporter every year? because i beleive you are only suppose to use it at the begining of your career league, after the first season has been ran. As far as abbreviations, that might be a problem. i beleive you are suppose to change the city or nickname but not change the abbreviation. Someone you might wanna talk to would be Killebrew. Hes pretty helpful with the Cato Utility. |

Re: OOTP History Problem - Error Defined

1. Are you using the correct OOTP History version for the correct OOTP game? 2. Did you use the commishJoe utility from Jeff cato's website? The most recent one for the BOSI pages won't work with the last version of OOTP History. 3. Did you output the required OOTP html pages? 4. Did you input the correct path within OOTP History to the CSV files and html files you generated above? 5. Team Names cannot end in a period. For example, ‘St. Louis’ is okay, but ‘N.Y.C.’ will crash the program. 6. Divisions must have names, even if there is only one division in each league. 7. Are there two teams with the same name or abbreviation? Example: 'NY' and 'NY'. Sorry if the above seem too obvious, but most often the OOTP History errors are things like that, check through them anyway and maybe one of the items applies to your error. Quote:
(The above is not as complicated as I describe, I'm just a bit long winded tonight) Quote:

Bad news: This error has occured at least twice before to OOTP History users, and both times their problem was not solved on this forum. Here are the links to the previous issues that match yours:
http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...plicate+values In this thread AngelinOF states: "The only time I have gotten the duplicate error message was because I was using a schedule from a different league and the game uses whatever date the schedule says it is, so when every thing was exported it had dates for 1977 and the league was in 1984." Longshot but if this is related to your issue I would recheck all your paths - that means in the commishJoe exporter as well as the paths within OOTP History that point to the exact league your are importing into the OOTP History DB. Also, when you make any tweaks/changes to anything and rerun the OOTP History import make sure you delete your old *.MDB file and start with the blank default MDB file that comes with OOTP History. http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...plicate+values In this thread AngelinOF states: "the error you reported (duplicate values) is somewhat of a big error, I got the error alot with version 5.2 and got it the first couple of times with 5.3 till I saw that Cato posted that the database needed to be started from scratch if v 5.2 was used since it did some bad things to the database." Another longshot but if this was related to your error I guess you would have to recheck the version of OOTP History you are using. Also, this is pretty obvious but was the OOTP season you are importing done with OOTP4 and then converted to an OOTP5 league file? Since you are only dealing with one season, I will offer to try OOTP History on that 1 season if you provide a link to the end of year file - maybe I could come up with some other idea's then, up to you. |

Once again I really appreciate the effort Killebrew.
A few notes: Yes, our league started with OOTP 4 and was imported into OOTP 5 back when it was released. I've checked and double checked all of the paths and it looks OK. I did start with OOTP History for V4 and upgraded...so maybe that's a possibilty., I dunno. The league file we have now is in the middle of the FA process. Even though I had backed up the league and simmed to the end of 2014 to test it at that point. The league file can be downloaded off the main league page: http://www.bmnetwerks.net/~disola/index.php Am I to understand that OOTP History copuldn't do anything with player Win Shares for seasons before 2013? What is the "Recalculate All Years" button do? Thanks-- bill |

Yes, if the first year that you use OOTP History on is 2014 then OOTP History will treat that season as the 1st season of the league and win shares, lifetime stats, and team stats will all begin at that year (or 2013 if that is the 1st season you import). If you have the year end OOTP league file for all previous seasons then you can import each season into OOTP History, but you need to start at the 1st year you have an archived league file and you need to follow the OOTP History readme file step by step for each previous season, no importing of 2+ seasons at a time I'm afraid. I'll check out that league file later this evening. |

Wabner - the league file on your webpage is for the beginning of 2014 - could this be related to the problem? You need the end of year OOTP5 league file for OOTP History to work.
Maybe there is a different download link I am missing, but I would not be able to run the OOTP History utilities on this beginning of the season file. |

No, that's where we are and I don't have an end of the year file on hand, but I tested that theory as well. I backed up the league and simulated the entire 2014 season and ran OOTP History when the league was at the "Proceed to Next Season" stage. Same duplicate run time error. I really don't think that's the problem but I can try it again if need be.

If you run OOTP history on a beginning of the year league file it will fail, not sure if that is what you mean though.I'd like to help by importing your league into a fresh OOTP History session and trying to duplicate the error and then find a solution or workaround, but I a cannot proceed any further with the league file you have on your site. It is PW protected so I can't sim forward to where OOTP History and it's associated utilities can actually use the file. If you want you can either PM me the password for this league file, or send me the end of year league file that is giving you the trouble (pm me for an email address), or put up a link to that league file on your site. It is the end of year 2013 league file that is causing the trouble, right? I can't see why you would want an end of year 2014 file if you have not started 2014 .

Yeah we have our wires crossed.
I just want to get the thing to work, it doesn't matter which year. I just found out about this utility a few days ago, after we had completed 2013 and I lost ALL of my pervious end of the year files (don't ask..). I heard that you need to run the program at the end of the season, so I backed up my 2014 season (which is at the FA stage you are seeing) and turned all teams to CPU and simmed 2014 and ran OOTP History at the Proceed to Next Season stage. I just wanted to see if the util would wpork with our league. It still gave me that error. However, when I created a Test League (starting in 2003 with default teams) it worked fine. I'll PM you league password. |

Yeah the fact that I got that test league to work was a huge tease. Now I have half the league owners wanting to see the Win Shares for their club. Heh.

Good/bad news: I am able to duplicate this error doing exactly what Wabner said he did - I simmed to the end of 2014 and ran the CSV Exporter, then OOTP History and sure enough:
Run-time error '-2147467259 (80004005)': The changes you requested to the table were not successful because they would create duplicate values in the index, primary key, or relationship. Change the data in the field or fields that contain duplicate data, remove the index, or redefine the index to permit duplicate entries and try again. This error message comes up near the end of the initial "Import Stats" OOTP History process (after inputting the year start date and end date). I am looking into it further now, hopefully there is a simple fix. Wabner, if it makes you feel any better, you did all your steps accurately but the issue is related to the league somehow, I had never seen this error before myself. I'll update this thread when/if I find out more. |

Maybe interesting - OOTP History crashed before setting all the info required in the "Teamstats" table, specifically it recorded no playoff games even though all the playoff games had been played. Not sure if this is a cause of a problem or the result of the program crashing before it could import this info - probably the later reason.

Here are some observations:
- No players are in the 'Master' table - that would certainly crash the app, but again, not sure if that is a cause or just a result of something else. It is probably the result of something else - the players.csv file is fine. - The league has expanded both in teams and in divisions, it began with 4 divisions and 20 teams. OOTP allows you to do this of course, but it's possible that this change messes up the OOTP History application's import. I have never used OOTP History on a league that expanded teams and divisions so maybe other OOTP History users can chime in to say that the app works fine in that situation. Edit: I tried a two other things, removing questionable punctuation from the CSV files and trying out version 5.2 of OOTP History, but I got the same error at the same spot both times. It is something specific to the league, but without the OOTP History source code I can't debug this error any further. Sorry guys.
