ITP won't run

I can't get past the opening screen that says start new career,load new career etc...as soon as i click on start new career it freezes and I have to re-start my computer. I downloaded DX ver 9.0, i have windows 98. I tried running OOTP5 and I had no problem. I also tried the toggle thing that someone suggested earlier and I had no success. Any other ideas how to get this game to work.

Having the same problem. Running 98SE as well, completely updated via Windows update (latest DirectX, etc).

Tried the Braylin solution offered below, but that only really works for XP. Any solutions with 98 would be greatly appreciated.

AS I said in a previous post win98 is crap and due to the fact its 6 years old you will start to have more and more problems with it & software. Not to mention how easy it is for spyware to get into your OS and make it run slow. Maybe you should try Spybot - Search and Destroy, or Ad-aware. Who knows. Win98 is a crap shoot.

Actually, I figured it out. Simple matter of turning the 3D option off in the options. And as for 98, it's one of the more stable Windows systems, as good as XP (although I'm not a great fan of XP) and better than 95 (obviously) and ME.
