Too many strikeouts
I'm doing a solo league and there are wayyyyyy too many strikeouts, there's like 12 pitchers on pace for 300 K's and a few could reach 400. Now all of the other stats seem to be perfect so I just want to fix K's.
What I would like to do ideally is change it drastically so that by the end of the year it evens out and then after the season put it back up somewhere inbetween where I can get normal K numbers. In order to do this do I just need to get to the league totals and lower the amount of K's? I'm trying not to effect the other stats because they are right where they need to be. |

Is it your league totals, or do you have a high number of pitchers with good stuff ratings that result in higher than normal K's. What are your development modifiers set at?

Didn't touch the development modifiers, I started a fictional league in 1900 using the Golden Years Era. I haven't touched league totals, modifiers or anything like that. |

If you INCREASE the number of strikeouts on the game engine screen, you will REDUCE how many strikeouts your players have.
This is a very easy fix. 1) Save your game. 2) Make changes to your strikeout values. 3) Run a full season. No human controlled teams, its a throw away season anyway. 4) See the end result. 5) Re-load the same season Repeat steps 2-4 as many times as it takes to get the values your looking for. |

You welcome.
After simming perhaps 500 seasons, I have a pretty good idea of the types of results I am looking for. Call it 1958, with more steals. I like to take the at bats number, and change it to 100,000. This makes tweaking all the other numbers, on a percentage basis. 10% too many home runs? Then take the 5000 value, and make it 4500 (subtracting 500, or 10%) This was the key...when someone else explained the percent changes. Allow for some year to year fluctuation. For historical players, EACH AND EVERY year I go through every single player, adjusting fielding. They import funny. There are just too many SS with a "2" fielding rating (out of 10). I am not as fanatic as some, but I also look briefly at the speed/running values. Middle infielders and outfielders slower than the corners/catchers, that sort of thing. |
