Angry Pitcher substitution AI

Top of the 9th. I bring in my closer. He's listed in the Pitching Staff as my closer. Strikes out the first batter. Second batter draws a walk, but it's a close call and I have the option of arguing the call. Why not? I manufactured the winning run in the 8th inning, I've made my defensive substitutions, and I've got my closer on the mound with 1 out. I argue the call, get ejected from the game, and the computer AI takes over. It immediately pulls my closer from the mound and puts in my lefty middle relief guy to face a bunch of right handed batters. They shell they guy. Eventually another middle relief guy is brought in to finish the inning, but not before the opponents score 4 runs. I lose the game by 3.

Why did the computer AI pull my closer in the last inning of a 1 run game???

Everything is set to normal. The closer hadn't pitched in days. He'd only thrown around 10 pitches before I argued the call.

Why would the AI pull the closer in a closing situation? Why would a lefty be chosen to face a string of right-handed batters?

bump. I'm hoping the developers might take a stab at addressing this.

The in game AI is due for some detailed analysis... something I'll start to do when I finally get some more time free from work.

Does you closer have CL listed as his position? Does your reliever have CL listed as his position? What were the two players ratings at the time?

The closer that was pulled has his position as CL and is in the closer's spot in the pitching staff. The replacement is listed as MR and is in a middle relief slot (not a setup guy) in the pitching staff. I'd have to check the exact ratings, but the closer definately had superior ratings in probably every category listed (I play with reduced ratings). Playing in challange mode with patch B applied so I don't think I could change the pitcher position during the season.
