Does the following sound familiar?
You're scouting out potential talent you'd like to trade for. You're in the "Player Trade" screen, and you've brought up the other team on the right side of the screen. You click on "Add Player," and sort by a rating or talent. You find an intriguing player, click on him to bring up his page, and check him out. Then you right-click to dismiss the player viewer, and his talents/ratings have dropped! I saw this in OOTP 3, but never got a chance to post. It seems to have continued in this version, at least in my experience. Could it be that I'm looking at the player's talents/ratings through the eyes of a scout other than my own? Or even worse, am I seeing the actual objective talent/ratings, bypassing the scout? Any info would be great. Loving the game otherwise. Thanx!

I have noticed this also... sometimes the ratings go up as well as down. In my historical league, the ratings invariably adjust to closer to what the player was like in real life, so I suspect these might be the "real" ratings that we're seeing. Definitely something that should be fixed.

I have seen this too, a similar problem at least. I have the 4b patch installed.
Whenever I view a player, if I change his position while I view him, his ratings may change. Example: I have a third baseman, who when I initially look at his batting ratings, has a 6 contact rating, 3 power rating, and 4 eye/discipline rating. I click on the "Position" button to change his position to DH. I look at his batting ratings, they are now 6/4/4. Change his position back to 3rd base, they are still 6/4/4. Click on "Close", then look at the player again, and his ratings show up as "6/3/4". This doesn't happen for all players. I guess only when my scout has it wrong (if it is indeed the real ratings I'm seeing at other times, as MannyTrillo suggests). |

Just posted on this same thing before I read it.
Is it a bug?

Are you running with scouts on? Because I believe that in OOTP3 this was the difference between where in one situation you were looking through the eyes of the other team's scout, and the other situation you were seeing the player through the eyes of your own scout.

Not a bug, just the way the game works with scouts on. The 1st rating is through either the other teams scout, an "average" scout, or your own scout, the 2nd rating that appears after you click on the player is a different scout of those 3. Not sure which is which, I'd guess it's their scout 1st and then yours or vice versa.

But isn't this still a bug? Particularly when I'm only looking at my own player, through my own team's roster (not through the trade interface). Also happens during the amateur draft. I really don't think I should be able to see ratings through eyes other than my scouts when I'm deciding who to draft.

That is how scouts have worked in the game since being introduced in v3, and at that time I recall asking pretty much the same question, with the answer being "design decision" ![]() |

Yeah. OK. I don't have a problem with a player's ratings being different when I click on them, from what they are in a list screen. Say the ratings I see in the free agent screen are average ratings and then when I click on him it's my scouts rating.. I could deal witht that. The issue I have is that whenever I click on a player, if i change his position, his ratings change. Even for pitchers, if I change them to DH and then back again, their ratings change. And this happens on every single screen, including my own team's.

IMHO, I should view the talents and ratings of the rest of the league through the same pair of eyes. It's especially disconcerting when I see the rating or talent change in front of me by just clicking in and out of a player window. If it were different from team screen to team screen, I'd understand. But in the instance I'm describing, the altered rating appears in the same table as the original, above the bottom row of the table that reads "SCOUTING BY JOHN DOE," or whomever my scout is.
I suppose all I'm looking for is consistent subjectivity. Or subjective consistency. Albatross?
