Joe Morgan Revisited
Just for anyone who questions why a lot of us have so much hate for this man, here are the titles to his last 4 articles on espn.com. I have no idea how this man gets paid for writing this crap.
"Yanks Need Identity" "Brawls Are Here To Stay" "After 95 Years Baker has Cubs on Series Brink" "Is Fate With Red Sox?" WTF. Jason

Joe Morgan = idiot.
Sorry to be so blunt. I had to put it in words even he would understand.

Aren't there laws against spreading blatantly false information? Shouldn't there be some kind of truth in journalism statute that would prevent the kind of nonsense that Morgan makes it a habit of speaking?

I like to think of Morgan as a performance artist, rather than an announcer. He's actually playing a very deep game with his audience, and the baseball games are merely the medium he works in. He's kind of the Dada poet of the baseball diamond; it's all either nonsensical or utterly obvious - but what he's really doing is inviting each of us to announce our own game. "See?" says Morgan. "It's this easy. You can make it all up and people will still try to make sense of what you say, and relate it to the game."
It's a challenge to our collective consciousness and the nature of reality - what is 'the Game'? what is 'team identity'? what is "Joe talking about?" It really deepens my appreciation of the game. Joe Rules! |
