Powweb Increase

For anyone interested, Powweb has increased the space limits available to their websites. Sites will now have 1000MB of space available. Transfer limits have also been raised. Not that anyone here would probably use that much space, but...

Now how does their MySQL database system work? I remember in the past you had to pay some sort of activation fee, and you got 1 MySQL database. Is it still like that?

First mysql database is free. Each additional one is a $10 setup fee. If all your running is tpb-fans, you shouldnt need more than one database.

I am set with tpb-fans.com, it is my next web site that will probably be using powweb, and I have no problem referring you... do I just say "www.baseballmaelstrom.com" or what?

Also, subdomains... are they included in the package? I looked at their hosting section, didn't see any mention of it. How many subdomains do you get (if they are included)?

Im not sure about sub domains. For referring, you just post the website address I believe. Mine is www.400rc.net . Feel free to choose mine or Maelstroms, lol.

Hehe, well until I found out how many sub domains are offered, I can't join up yet. I'll shoot them an email.

All In One has subdomains. I signed up for their plan #6 which gives you 900MB, unlimited subdomains, unlimited MySQL, and as with all their plans, great support!

Sorry, Shane already got my referral several months ago. Does this deal apply to all customers, or just new ones?

Yeah that's a lot of space. You could run multiple leagues with that kind of room. Good thing I get free hosting. Paying for stuff sucks.

It actually applies to all customers. Current customers get to enjoy the added space as well.

I thought he was talking about whether referering people can only be done by new customers. But, he probably meant whether the space applies to new customers. Shane is right that it applies to new customers as well.

The downside with powweb is their file limit. If you plan on hosting thousands of small files, powweb may not for you. Most powweb users wont even be able to use the extra space.
