~Probably because the league commish or a friend of the commish runs Boston!~

lukster,

Here is a thread that discusses Merchandising Revenue, where it comes from and if it changes.

My understanding is this: Merchandising Revenue is a monetary amount given to teams at the beginning of the league to ensure that no team loses money in the first season. From Year 2 and beyond, MerchRev is based on the prior year's MerchRev number, which means that it varies little throughout the course of a franchise. It boils down to simply being a random balancing figure.

Broadcasting Revenue is the sum of a team's Local TV Deal + National TV Deal. These are contracts with lengths that vary. They will expire and then renew at a different amount at the conclusion of the contract. I have no idea what the renewal amount is based upon.

Did your local TV deal or National TV deal get renegotiated?
What's your fan interest at?
What's your market size?
