What a thin-skinned baby. Does this guy's act get as old to people in New England as it does to the rest of the country? So, who's running the pool on when Pedro decides to throw in the towel this year?

Man, for 17 million, you'd better take some abuse!

There are two sides to this. One would be Pedro's. He is one of the best pitchers in baseball. He and Nomar single handily re-formatted Boston into a contender. Without Pedro, Boston would be another town with tons of hitting and no pitching. Lowe can not do it alone. With that said, Boston fans should be a little kinder to their star pitcher.
Now what I as a fan thinks. From the other side of this Pedro is a complete baby. He is out every year with some little injury. He can’t take the heat of what the fans really think. They want their pitcher on who’s earning 17 million on the mound and not sitting at home because he has a little sore throat. Take a cough drop! The fans have the right to voice there opinion. News flash Pedro, not everyone in Boston adores you. Get over your self. If Pedro can't handle the heat in Boston maybe he should go to Montreal and hang out with loner Vladdy. If he is threatening to leave a town just because of what the ‘SOME’ fans think then he won’t be able to handle himself anywhere but a small city.

According to the article, he was in the hospital on an IV for dehydration for a while. And they say Yankee fans are brutal

Give me a break. Do you think Roger Clemens would miss an important start because of the flu? Do you think John Elway would pass a Week 15 game because he had the flu? If the fat toad David Wells and pitch a no hitter on a hang over, then poor little Pedro can pitch with the flu.
He is a cancer plain and simple. |

Scott: What? [Terrance farts and they laugh] Aargh! I hate you more than ever, Terrance and Phillip! I absolutely abhor you both! [he then puts his fists forth and concentrates mightily on them. They simply stand back]
Phillip: What are you doing, Scott? Scott: I'm wishing cancer upon you. Phillip: Cancer?!! Scott: That's right. I'm trying to give you cancer with my mind. Terrance: Ooh, stop that! [grabs Phillip as a shield, then pulls him back] Phillip: Hey, don't give me cancer!

Yea, next time you have the flu that bad, just go on to work instead of going to the hospital. He was in the freaking hospital guys. H-O-S-P-I-T-A-L. Boston can do without him for one start.

For half of his salary, I will work 16 hours per day for the next 365 days straight, and not complain once. **** it, for a 17th of his salary I would do that.

Heres an idea don't get dehydrated! You could have people/a doctor/god around you 24/7 if you wanted. Maybe they can keep you from becoming dehydrated. Drink some water, crazy concept I know.

Good idea, but he must not have had enough water. Lesson learned, I am sure he will now.

In all fairness to Pedro the media in Boston is awful. They like to stir up frenzy and controversy. I place part of the curse squarely on their collective shoulders.
Pedro may well be a crybaby, but he is a gamer. Anyone who doubts that is.....well....not real smaaat. |

Roger Clemens...1991-trade with Blue Jays: general lack of conditioning and dedication to his craft. I really doubt Wells pitched a no-hitter with a hangover. He just wants people to think he is like Ruth. I don't buy that garbage. football is a different sport and therefore Elway is not a very good example. if a player is truly incapacitated to the point that playing would either further injure him or that he would not be able to perform well enough to help the team, then he should sit. it's very simple. give up the bull**** machismo posturing.

Boston media/fans have no reason to get on Pedro's case because of an illness. None of us put the physical stress on our bodies as much as Pedro. What the guy is doing now at his height/weight is simply amazing, and the fact that Pedro could possibly die (not likely, but serious injury maybe) by throwing 100 90 mph pitches in the middle of summer, gives us no reason to complain. He's done more for this team than any other player on the current roster.
But to the "more important" point, media will get on your case no matter what. I guess Pedro needs to realize this also, but just because it's true that media gets a say in this world doesn't make it right. |
