Battle for I-70: Royals vs. Cardinals (Abandoned until further notice)

This will be a quick thing over the weekend.

Royals vs. Cardinals has been an underrated rivalry for many years, mainly because the Royals were not very good for a long period of time and the fact that neither team plays on the east or west coast. But, the rivalry still exists. Recently, a Cardinals fan tried to pass a bill to make the Cardinals the official team of Missouri. (There's a bill to make the Cardinals the official MLB team of Missouri - CBSSports.com)
Fine. You can have your Missouri. Instead of a battle for Missouri, let's make this a battle for the heartlands. (Yes, TECHNICALLY Kauffman stadium is in Missouri, but really, the city is called KANSAS city and so I think that I can put them in Kansas. I do what I want.)
This is a best of 3, and whoever wins 2 'battles' are crowned champs. (It'll probably be the Cardinals but who cares)
Here are the rounds:
Round 1: Best team.
The top 16 Royals and Cardinals teams are put in separate leagues and there is a tournament with the best Royals team matching up with the best Cardinals team in the final.
Round 2: Homegrown talent.
I make a 'All-Star' team of the best baseball players from Kansas and Missouri and they play a series.
Round 3: All-Star team.
Of course. The best players from both franchises make an all-star roster and play a series.
Lets get going on this project!

Round 1

I had the 32 teams play 26 regular season games (I had set it to 50, but whatever) for seeding and now all 32 teams meet in the playoffs. Here are the standings for the regular season.

So here is how the playoffs up to the final worked out:

Some huge upsets. All of the world series teams are out by the 3rd round, and the eventual champ is the 89 team, who in real life went 92-70, and were lead by Bo Jackson. Not the team I expected to win.

The 2013 team won. They made it to the world series in real life, so I guess fair play.

So who won the championship?

The winner is....
The 2013 St. Louis Cardinals!!!

They pulled out to a 3-0 lead with great pitching, and while the 89 Royals won 2 straight games to make it close, they never could match the pitching dominance of St. Louis.

1-0 to the Cards as we enter round 2.

ROUND 2: Home Grown Talent

The Cardinals won. The end.

(I kinda lost desire to finish this. Yeah.)
