Career Ending injury and salary obligations

OK I did my due diligence and searched the forum.

However I never found a definitive answer. I had a player with 3years remaining on his contract go down to a career ender. Now I know I am on the hook for this years salary – but assuming he retires at the end of they year, how much of a hit against at my bottom line should I expect?
