Beginning an Online League

Hey. I have never participated in an online league, but was interested in doing so. I would like to know how they work. Any specifics you can give will be helpful. Thanks in advance.

Online leagues consist of teams run by individual participants. Usually the pace of online leagues is one weeks worth of games per sim with maybe 2-3 sims per week or real time. Some leagues do operate on one game per day simming but many/most go for the week or more per sim.

Trades are negotiated entirely with other humans, and blessed by commish or by a review group.

Team "owners" download latest results from the previous sim, check out their team and the league and make any lineup changes and either export and email or ftp the file back to the commish running the league who imports the file and your changes would then be used in the next sim period. This repeats until the season is complete.

The offseason consists of free agency where a similar process is used, download the latest file, make your offers to players, export to commish, commish sims, commish posts new file, repeat.

Offseason also consists of an amateur draft as well as spring training. Then the entire process repeats, season after season.

The best part IMO is the dealings with real live counterparts.

Take a look at my league website.. You can view the message boards, and league rules to get an idea of how things run....
