Brought in a relief pitcher, 2 out. Runner at 1st out trying to steal. Tried to pinch hit for the pitcher in my up, game wouldn't let me because "pitcher has to face one batter."

Go to player card, turn editor on, change pitcher to a position player, exit, sub for him, edit him back to pitcher.

I think that works...

BTW, are you patched? I noticed a situation yesterday that I thought that bug would apply to, and it did indeed let me pinch hit.

I haven't got the 5.11 patch. But here's another situation -- short on pinch hitters, a bunt situation, my best bunter was actually a pitcher (a 'B'). So I used a pitcher to pinch-hit for a pitcher, not intending to use him on the mound, and not only could I not take him out, when I used a work around (I put him temporarily on the DL so I could replace him), the program insisted that I'd used him in relief that game.
