He ended up going 21-3 with a 2.73 ERA. Amazing season. But finished 2nd in the Cy Young voting to his teammate Greg Maddox (22-7 with a 2.73 ERA). Maddox had the higher WAR and some other peripheral stats, so he go the nod.
