What is the best way to get logos designed?

What is the best way to get logos created by the OOTPB community?

I can get generic logos, but would like to have some made for my specific teams which would include the city and the nickname.

I see great work by dbacks, Cuss 16, Shub, couriers, LedgerSko, Markmeister and Zyk...(sorry, if I left some good creators out...I did a search and found these).

Will people create them?

How many should you ask for at one time?
(I will probably need about 60 logos).

Do they do these logo designs free of charge?

If one has to pay for them, what is a fair price?

I would like simple, traditional logo designs similar to the St. Louis Cardinals, Baltimore Orioles, Boston Red Sox, Chicago Cubs, Chicago White Sox, etc...nothing fancy or too modern.

I have spent the last year creating an Alltime-Allstar League with the arguably best 100 players for each original franchise and 4 composite expansion teams (including Negro, Japanese and Career Minor Leaguers). Each major league team has farm teams in Class AAA, AA and A. Each league is separate, so I can play out the games in each. I don't use OOTP5 minors because the rosters are not complete and you can't play out the games. I manually promote and demote players from league to league.

I am now playing my first season.

I downloaded stadiums and some logos...but would like to get logos created for my minor league teams.

Any advice would be helpful.

Just go ahead and start by listing like 10 of them, by the end of a day you'll probably be able to pick through a dozen of them. We love getting logo requests, plus I need something to do at work when it gets slow

yeah, just tell them you want say, the Sacramento Snakes and give them maybe the team colors and give a few more and I am sure they would be more then happy.... Free of charge, nothing in return. List 50 if you like.. not saying they will do them all

Thanks for your replies.

I'll give it a try and see what happens.

I have created an All-time All-star league...with 4 separate leagues...16 original franchises and 4 composite expansion teams...complete with great Negro, Japanese and career minor league stars. Each major league team has its 100 best alltime players (arguably) split up on the parent team and Class AAA, AA and A farm teams. I want to play with complete minor league rosters and play out each game, so I manually promote and demote players from one league to another.

I would like for the logos to be traditional, simple and basic designs (like the current Baltimore Orioles, St. Louis Cardinals, Boston Red Sox, Chicago White Sox and Chicago Cubs)...not modern and complex and hard to see.

Please put the city's name and nickname.

Some of the farm teams are/were real...some are fictional.

Each farm team logo has some relationship to the major league team (same theme to nicknames, former farm team, similar name, something relative to the major league team).

For example: New York Yankees (Majors)...Buffalo Bombers (as in Bronx Bombers) (AAA)...Birmingham Barons (former farm team) (AA) and Raleigh Blue Stripes (Yankees famous pin stripes)(A).

Do them in Yankee colors...preferably on a white background so it can be read easily...I downloaded some MLB logos and they had black backgrounds, which does not show up well in the game...the SF Giants, Atlanta Braves and Cleveland Indians are especially hard to see...The Oakland A's, Boston Red Sox and Chicago White Sox are good examples of the ones that are easy to see.

Set #2: Atlanta Crackers (Majors)...Dallas Hobos (AAA)...Richmond Roadrunners (AA) and Jacksonville Beachcombers (A).
(all nicknames are related to "bums and hobos")

Use Atlanta Brave colors for all of them...unless you think some other colors are better...again on a background that shows good contrast...white seems to be the best.

Please put the name of the city and the nickname on the logo.

Thanks for all of the help you guys gives: Henry's and Teflon's stadiums, dbacks teaching me how to download logos. Steve and Marcus for a great game, and all the others (Scott, dbacks, TigerFan) who have answered my many questions about the game.

Please rework the Major League teams' logos as well.

It would be interesting to see what you come up with.

Thanks.

Wishful thinking! j/k

EC, I will be busy for the rest of today, so when I get some time tomorrow, I'll see what I can come up with. The only thing, though, is I'm not entirely sure what to do. I have a pretty good idea of what you want - now all I need is just the city names and the nicknames for ALL of the logos you need. I can't guarantee you will get all of them, and if so, it will take a while, but just a simple list of the teams you need logos for will help get me started.

So, like I said, if you could give us a list, that would be most helpful. For example,

New York Yankees
Arizona Diamondbacks
Atlanta Braves
Seattle Mariners

etc., etc.

Thanks!

dbacks, Thanks for the offer to help.

Between you, Cuss 16 and Shub I have 3 of the best logo designers.

I have been out of town for two days.

I will post the teams I need here later today...there are a lot of them...but appreciate anything any of you guys can do.

Thanks.

Thanks, dbacks...if possible, I would like to contact you in private about logos. You do not have your e-mail listed. It's no problem if you do not want to be contacted personally. I'll just communicate here on the board.

I have already e-mailed Cuss 16 and Shub instructions for the first two sets of logos.
I'll post them here for you and anyone else that would like to do some.

IN GENERAL, USE YOUR BEST JUDGMENT...YOU GUYS HAVE THE KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE.

USE WHITE BACKGROUND. It seems to be a better contrast than black or a dark color, when used in OOTPB. If you think another background color is light or soft enough and gives good contrast, then use it. I currently have black backgrounds in OOTP5 and they are very poor visually...not enough contrast.

PUT BOTH CITY AND NICKNAME.

USE A VARIETY OF STYLES AND FONTS...I know these will have to be repeated because of the number of teams I have.
I like the Oakland A's, Baltimore Orioles, and Boston Red Sox's round logos. See them on "logoserver.com". The A's city and nickname are in a circle...colored white and trimmed in yellow on a green background..."A's" is in the center of the circle...colored green with gold trim....Red Sox and Orioles are similar.

USE THE DODGERS TYPE SCRIPT WITH THE TAIL AS A VARIATION FOR SOME OF THE LOGOS.

Sometimes just do one color...sometimes outline or trim with a second color...sometimes use white for the city/nickname and trim them with two other colors.

I am not trying to tell you how to do it...just giving you my preferences. PLEASE USE YOUR CREATIVITY.

SET #1 NEW YORK YANKEES
COLORS: NAVY BLUE AND WHITE
(logoserver.com has Uncle Sam's hat with a bat in it that extends from it and forms part of the "k" in "Yankees". If you could take that and add the city and nickname. That would be fine...or do what you would like...use the blue pin stripes if they are appropriate and they do not clutter up the logo.

FARM TEAMS: Use navy blue and white for all...create your own logos.

BUFFALO BOMBERS (for BRONX BOMBERS)
BIRMINGHAM BARONS (former farm team)
RALEIGH BLUE STRIPES (Yanks are famous for blue pin stripes)

SET #2 ATLANTA CRACKERS (a "cracker is a bum or hobo")
COLORS: ORANGE AND BLUE (use white for lettering or trim if it makes it look better)

FARMS TEAMS: (all nicknames are associate with "bums and hobos")

DALLAS HOBOS
RICHMOND ROADRUNNERS
JACKSONVILLE BEACHCOMBERS

When these are completed, I will post the others.

Thanks.

EC - I don't mind being contacted personally. I apologize for "hiding" my email addy - I didn't realize it was "hidden.". My email is quite simply dbacks@cox.net. I will go to my cp and make my email available to all. You can send me an email whenever you like. I will be busy until about 9:00pm AZ time, so it will be a few hours before I will be able to help - but I'll be able to get something done tonight - ever if it's just one or two logos.

dbacks, thanks for your e-mail address.

Work on these logos when you have the time...no rush.

I'm just glad you talented guys are so willing to help me.

Logos add a little bit of spice to the game.

Thanks.

Okay, I'm working on a Yankees logo (w/ one variation) right now. Probably won't get it done and posted till later this evening, though.

Here's the second. I think this is closer to what you were asking for - with the navy blue and white. The reason I post the first is because IMO, it looks a little better, and thought maybe you'd want to choose for yourself. As always, comments and suggestions are most welcome.

Yours is better...I like the red yankees and red hat.

You did well.

That's why I want the designer to do his own thing. It will probably be better than mine.

Thanks for #2. It made it obvious that yours is better.

They're both mine.

The reason I posted #2 is simply because when you specified colors, you said "navy blue and white." And that's what I did with the second. I like the first better, but I posted the second beacuse you said to use those colors. I think what you meant was to include those colors, but not to make it with just those colors. I think I just midunderstood what you were asking.

I should have said your choice of colors was better than mine...by including the red...also like the natural bat color...nice touch.

Thanks...this is a good start.

Just wanted to bump this back up to the top to let you know that for the past couple days, I have been working on some of the logos you requested. I just haven't come up with anything until now. I'm really stumped as to what to do for your Atlanta set. I'm not entirely sure what to put on them other than "Atlanta Crackers," or "Dallas Hobos," etc.

Anyway, I just finished a Barons logo -nothing great, but at least tried to pay attention to your color preference of blue and white. I hope this is similar to what you were looking for.

I just got back from the Rickwood Classic in Birmingham.

Each year the Southern League Barons play a game at Rickwood Field to raise funds to restore and maintain the park, which is the oldest minor league ballpark in the country, built in 1910. It was also used in the shooting of the movie "Cobb".

The first thing I see when I checked my e-mail is your Baron logo.
What a coincidence!

You did a nice job as always.

If you think you have a better idea than me and my colors and my ideas, go ahead do what you think is best. Do not let me stifle your creativity.

If the Atlanta and farm teams logos are tough to come up with a bum (like the Brooklyn Dodger bum), just go ahead and do what you think looks good using the royal blue, orange and white colors.

Whenever you have trouble coming up with a design, just use the Oakland A's logo style...the round one with "Oakland" and "Athletics" in gold on a green background in the outer circle... and "A's" colored gold in the middle on a white background.

Put Atlanta, Dallas, Richmond, and Jacksonville in the top of the circle. Since we don't have a bum to go in the middle (like the A's) put the team's nickname in the center. To fill in the bottom of the circle use "Baseball Club". I think it would be redundant to put the nickname twice...both in the bottom of the circle and in the center.

Thanks for the Birmingham Barons logo.

Heh. Wondered where you were.

Anyway, glad you like the logo. I can come up with logos pretty quick and easy if I'm just going to be using the A's style, and that's what I'll probably end up doing for the Atlanta and farm teams. Tonight, I'm working on something else (a league banner for someone else), and tomorrow, I'm not doing a whole lot, so maybe I can do some of those Atlanta/New York farm teams.

lol, at the pace we're going at now - 2 logos/4 days, it will take us 160 days (just over 5 months) to complete the set. Don't worry, though, it'll go quicker than that. I can promise you that.
