Change Minor League Affiliates

Is it possible to change a team's farm system?

What are you trying to do?

Go to League Settings
Select the minor league you wish to modify from the drop-down box in the upper right
Go to the League & Teams tab

There you can assign who the minor league team is affiliated with.

Go to your {League Name} menu option->click League Settings, then the League & Teams tab. Hit the Edit League Structure button. From here you can add/remove teams, add/remove divisions, and move teams thoughout your major and minor leagues.
To change affiliation of, say a AAA team, make sure you have the AAA league selected at the top of your screen->League Settings->League & Teams tab. You will see the Affiliation column for each division, so click the drop-down to change affiliation.

So maybe this is a strange / unique scenario.

Custom League.

Expanded the league adding two teams.

Those expanded teams have landed in another team's system.

So my new MLB team, is in the Atlanta Braves farm system. Zero clue how, but it's happened in two separate saves now.

I didn't even notice until my team's roster was being reset every single day - I found that the Atlanta Braves were controlling.

Oh, that's a little different. I don't really have an explanation for what happened there.

So your "major" league in your save didn't end up with two new teams in it?

Would you be willing to zip up the ".dat" files from your save and share them?

That's the odd part. They're part of the major league.

More context.

There are three major leagues. Promotion/Relegation style.

New expansion teams in lowest level seem to be affiliates of the highest major league.

Sounds like you have your lower league set with a parent affiliation for the top league on that same settings page I described.

https://manuals.ootpdevelopments.com...d_custom_games

It may be beneficial to load the Promotion quickstart that comes included in the game to compare settings.

Snepp,

So just went through the entire process. Start to finish.

1. Created leagues. No affiliations aside from promotion/relegation.
2. Simmed one season
3. Expanded lowest tier with 2 teams.
4. Teams are created in the bottom tier with their minor league affiliates.
5. The Detroit Tigers have both new expansion teams within their farm system.
6. whaaaaaaa?????

Just for fun. If you happen to be a whole lot smarter and are willing to spend any amount of time

Well you're definitely not wrong, both of those teams somehow got assigned as affiliates of Detroit. It made for a very strange day of transactions after the expansion draft when both Montreal and Caledon were drafting players, assigning them to their major league roster, then sending some of them to Detroit, lol.

I wasn't able to see anything in-game showing that there was an affiliation, but when I exported the league structure to an xml file both of those team IDs were listed under Detroit.

Good news is that the affiliation can be easily removed, bad news is that I have no idea why it would have occurred in the first place.

To get rid of the affiliation...

Head to the "League & Teams" page of the PBL
Set the parent league to MLB (any league should work)
Change the affiliation for the expansion teams to any team, then change back to none
Change the parent league back to none

If you check Detroit after this they shouldn't be there anymore.

I think it is a very rare bug with expansions. I've played with expansion teams before and this happened to me once and I had no clue how to get rid off it. Think I saw someone else get it before also. Glad to see you found a way to get rid of it.

While this seemingly makes sense, it didn't work

Never left their homes in Detroit. In fact, I assigned them to Atlanta and they were actually in both Atlanta's and Detroit's systems.

I think this can be called a bug.

Removed all 4 teams, still there in Detroit saying they're in a major league.

When I did it I set them as affiliates of Detroit, then back to none. I assumed that setting to any random team would accomplish the same thing to clear it.

Virtual high five.

This did the trick. I may now begin further transforming Baseball into the Global World. Champion's League will be HUGE

Thanks so much, I wish I could learn this as well. Very cool insights.
