Is the cleanup demand outdated?
I am roster building for my 2031 edition of the St. Louis Cardinals.
As I looked back at my players, and I have noticed this quite some time but never decided to bring it up, there a couple of them whose expectation is to be the team's cleanup hitter. In today's game, isn't that an outdated concept. Most team's, including the two in this year's World Series, are batting their best hitter first (Ohtani) or second (Vladdy Jr.). Starting lineup, starting rotation on the major league roster, I can see as an expectation. But cleanup hitter for a player who considers himself a premier hitter. This probably should no longer be happening in the OOTP world. |

Excellent point!
Not sure what a better option might be ("One through Four") w/o being too specific. And I have long been convinced that when determining being in the "starting lineup" (and being upset otherwise) only the lineup vRHP is referenced. Would love to satisfy that with someone starting vLHP too. |

For present day? Yeah. For historical games? No.
To "fix" it properly they're going to have another setting for historical play.

I honestly just ignore this demand if the team is good, we are winning, the the player is playing well. He is still likely to have good morale overall
