How do you get different teams in historical default mode?

In historical default mode, Players are rated based on their actual abilities and performances but not fixed to their teams. I would like to set-up a year, say 1969, and then delete some teams and but new historical teams in their place from different years. First, can you do this? Second, how do you do it?
Any help would be appreciated.

League Settings>League & Teams, Edit League Structure (middle-ish left button), Add Historical Team (middle button). Removing the team button is off to the right.
