How to assign scout to tournament?

I'm playing as GM/Head Coach and have scouting set to me.

Under scouting I see several tournaments with an "Assign Scout" field but can't figure out how to do this. I tried dragging & dropping, checking the check box for a scout and then dragging & dropping or just clicking "Assign Scout" but nothing seems to work. Asking the AI to assign did nothing as well.

The date is Dec 14. One tournament is starting this day. Three already started on Dec 10/11. A couple more are starting around Christmas.

I'm playing in the WHL and want to scout the World Juniors but can't figure out how.

Sorry, are you trying to assign it day of? Or did you have issues on the first of the month when you can assign scouts?

I didn't realize that you can only assign scouts the first of the month! That's probably it. I was trying to assign scouts to tournaments at random times during the month, but never on the first. Thanks!

Before you advance on the 1st, you should see an option to assign scouts. If you click through it though, you can miss it.
