So...I'm Seeing a Lot of This
What to make of it? Obviously, I'm pitching to contact more than the average team. Still, I'm only 58 K's behind the conference leader (10% worse). My .717 Defensive Efficiency is easily the best in conference. No other team is over .700. I've given up 601 hits in 706 innings. The next best team is at 675, which is more than 10% worse (18 points of batting average). I'm also committing less errors and am nearly the best at preventing home runs (62, one other team has coughed up 61).
Is the strikeout overrated? Apparently so, because nearly all of my teams have team stats that look like this. Yes, I'm a defense-first player, and apparently it's even more important than I thought. |

I think you're onto something here. My strikeout pitchers are seeing awful ERAs. May try to mix up my pitching staff a bit and see since I'm sitting at .500 ball right now.
Although I'll comment that you're hardly "defense first" if your batters' WAR is ranked 3rd

I'm looking forward to Seventies Week. The K fest will be put on hold, and teams will have to do more than swing for the fences.
