The only real surprise on that list is Dolph Ziggler. And even that's not a surprise considering WWE has released Bruan Strowman and Bray Wyatt(now deceased obviously) previously. I wonder if he goes to AEW.

Will not miss Boogs's character in the slightest…but I would have thought that his doing that Snickers™ ad with Bianca Hair-Extension meant that they had plans for him. Apparently not.

(Now if we can only hope that they're about to drop the girl with the weak-EST, stupid-EST, lam-EST nickname, that would be even better. But I'm probably just dreaming about that.)

Hope AEW grabs Dolph. Put him back with John Morrison again, perhaps. (Where is Bobby Roode these days, anyhow?)

(Unless Drew McIntyre has healed enough to go, but that would be a very random match. No title at stake, and they've pretty much been on the same side this year, despite the face/heel split.)

Odd. I'm not actually angry at this (the way I am at the Miz being sucked into a curtain-jerking Jobber-palooza, or Gunther having his character castrated in order to fluff Damian f'ing Priest), but it feels like a weird waste of a top guy.

I'm rather pissed about Sonya, who was effective in the GM role for a year, came back and made Chelsea Green a thing (Chelsea and Piper is a great rebound, but Chelsea was getting nowhere before Sonya), got injured and had to deal with that stalker who did a home invasion on her, and got stuck in the No-Pop Collective (not my nickname, but good one) with Baszler and Stark, who can hold anybody down. Grr.

Yeah, when Michin is coming up with better names for your factions than you are, that's not good.

Actually, they probably could have gotten away with "Studline". Just make an explicit connection to the Bloodline ("We're a different kind of family, but we're the same kind of Studs") and let the lesbian part fly over the more-innocent viewers' heads.

(I myself had no idea that "Doudrop" was a reference to lesbian bars named "the Dew Drop Inn", punning on the idea female sexual fluids are called "dew drops". Kimberly Benson ["Piper Niven"/"Doudrop"] came out as bisexual in 2019, but married a man in 2021.)

A bit odd they cashiered Dawn and not her tag partner, Alba Fyre. Are they planning a singles run for Fyre? I'd be surprised.

Gallows and Anderson got hamstrung because they've been tied to AJ and the "OC"/Bullet Club story is so outdated.

And I still can't believe they never did a full-scale Imperium break-up. There's no reason they couldn't have had at least ONE of Kaiser or Vinci turn on the other one because Gunther was bullying them. Total dropped ball. Ah, well.

(There was also a 4th Imperium guy, Alexander Wolfe, who never got the call to the main roster. I suppose Fabian ["Vinci"] can team up with him in MLW or back in Europe or wherever.)

18 months later, a chunk of these have drifted down to TNA. Ali, Elias (now Elijah), Top Dolla (now AJ Francis) and Dolph, now using his birth name of Nic Nemeth again. They are joined by Brian Myers (real name of the former "Curt Hawkins") and JDC, the former Fandango (the ring name is "Dango" in between two parts of JDC's real name).

Throw in Sidney Akeem (we called him "Reggie" back when) and his former storyline partner Dana Brooke (now "Heather by Elegance") and you have a mini-reunion of several things one would FF back in the day. (No disrespect to Dolph, or the Hardys, who have also landed there..)

Interesting strategy. I suppose the idea is the partnership with WWE will bring in more viewers who might know the nostalgia talents, without the salaries they had to pay Angle, the nWo, and Jeff H, back in the day?
