Angels in the Southland (Los Angeles expansion)
Expansion Ball in Southern California!
Trevor Morris was not seen as a viable candidate for the Los Angeles Angels job. The owner of the Angels went through dozens of applications, perhaps hundreds, before finding his man. He wanted somebody with some sort of experience. What Morris had was not what you'd expect, starting in Charlotte with the Hornets before getting a shocking call to go to Memphis and work with the Chickasaws, which had so few players on the roster that Morris had to insert himself on the team. In the Major Leagues, it doesn't look like Morris will have to do this. While San Francisco will likely be playing in a small, 18,500-seat stadium for their first season, Los Angeles will play the vast majority of their games in the massive, 93,000-seat Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. The interest in the Angels has been rather high over the past few months, as the baseball team joins a crowded sports landscape, with the Los Angeles Rams, newly moved from Cleveland, an All-American Football Conference team, USC and UCLA football in the Pacific Coast Conference, plus all sorts of other major events every year. Season tickets are still a major issue with a possible club, as it is such a large stadium and even selling 15-20K would mean some very small looking crowds. Executives are hoping a honeymoon phase helps to grow the attendance in what will likely be a long first season in the City of Angels. Last edited by Sctvman; 05-12-2025 at 12:27 AM. |

Expansion Draft
The MLB Expansion Draft was a successful endeavor for the Los Angeles Angels, as they picked a player from all 16 major league clubs for their franchise. The top pick for the team was Warren Spahn, ace P for the Boston Braves who was left unprotected in the draft.

Nice going to follow this one
I took the Angels in 1970 on a career, I've since moved on to the Dodgers and now the expansion Marlins. I just did their expansion draft and am in season 1. Expansion draft was the most fun I had in the career mode.
