Hit by Pitches are controlled by the League Totals and Modifiers. It is completely adjustable.

IRL, there was 2,020 total last year which equates to approx 67 per team or 1 every 2 1/2 games
I can’t say, but I feel like that’s maybe about what I’m seeing currently. I may have a couple in one game and then not see any for a few games I do know seeing one is more mental note worthy than going several and not seeing any. I did have a pitcher as I recall hit a guy and in the next inning proceeded to hit two….short lived outing for him ![]() Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I had what felt like way too many in my fictional league during spring training. I ran autocalc before opening day as recommended with a new version of the game and my HBP-rate appears spot on right now.

HBPs seem about right
Just finished the 162nd game of the 2025 Cardinals season -- by some miracle I went 83-69 and earned a wild card -- and got hit by 56 pitches over the course of the season while my pitchers plunked 60.
Averages of 2.89 and 2.7 respectively. Over the course of the season, 1,992 batters were hit by pitches for an average of 2.43 per game. |

Aren't there 2430 games in a season? 1992 HBPs would be less than one per game. Also 56 and 60 is 2.89 and 2.7?
Can you explain the math? What am I misunderstanding?

Small sample, but I have been seeing, consistently, several HBP per game in the latest build. That was not the case in prior builds of 26 for me. And it's troubling that there seems to be no correlation between a pitcher's propensity to hit batters (or the batter's history of getting HBP) and the occurrence of HBP in the games.
I am leery of adjusting totals and modifiers, for fear of the "doctrine of unintended consequences". But HBP is pretty discrete. But do I dial down the HBP total or reduce the modifier, or both (each)?

just a year in, but there does seem to be a higher "occurrence" of HBP than in previous iterations, I play out my games, sim first 4 innings and pick up from there...and good point and question by the Pelican!
