FaceGen & 3d Models Keep being disabled. (Steam version)

I played the game for 4 hours yesterday (Just bought it). I had no problems with the game. 3d and facegen features worked as they should.

Today when going into the game its the normal start screen...after selecting pitch the ball game switches to where it would have been 3d however it stayed on that "start" screen and you would see the players name only and that was it.

Went into options and found 3d Models and FaceGen disabled. I also noticed you cannot select anisotropic filtering settings. Yesterday it was at 16x, now you only see "Off"

I enabled said settings and tried another game and now where it would go into the 3d it crashes.

Game files verified successfully, I uninstalled and reinstalled game to no avail.

Just hoping someone will know a fix for this!

Is there an official tech support because I as you all spent the money for this I would like to play it and steam refusing refund because I was over 2 hours playtime which most was trying to troubleshoot this issue.

At the Start screen, go to "Settings" and go to the Troubleshooting tab and turn on Trace Mode (Write OOTP debug into file) and when the crash happens, go to the adjoining button and open the txt file. Save it and post it so they can see where the game is crashing. Whatever it is maybe forcing off the facegen and other items.

Matt or maybe Will can look at it. It's a small team of developers and they themselves are best equipped to see the issue. There have been odd 3D crashes in OOTP26 that have been under investigation. Nothing precisely like this though based on what you wrote.

Thank you for your response LansdowneSt. I uploaded the trace text file. I also had an error pop up but it went away so quick but something about the 3D being disabled due to command error "no3d"

So I see this in there:

2025-04-24 22:46:16 startup: loading facegen & opengl...
2025-04-24 22:46:16 startup: 3D is disabled because no3d is set.
2025-04-24 22:46:16 startup: Going to initialize Facegen.
2025-04-24 22:46:16 startup: GLEW is not initialized. Facegen disabled!
2025-04-24 22:46:16 startup: GLEW is not initialized. 3D features disabled!
2025-04-24 22:46:16 startup: facegen has NOT been loaded

It reminded me of an older post when the game had some of the graphics updated and that post is here:

https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...d.php?t=335983

In the spirit of collecting info for when a developer comes by, can you see if your graphics card is updated and list what it is. There was also a thread I found where the same error occurred due to how "Windows handled the switching between integrated and dedicated graphics cards".

So I uninstalled my amd radeon rx 7600s in device manager, The drivers were updated, since I checked yesterday. It wasnt even showing up in dxdiag. Restarted PC and started up OOTP and now it works! I never had the gpu not show up like that before. Hopefully it continues to work lol.

Thank you LandsdowneSt!!!!

Fantastic! Glad it is working. Oh, and you can go back to troubleshooting and turn off trace mode. If running sims with lots of years/games, it can slow things being on. If anything further goes awry it can always be turned on again.

Enjoy the game! And since you play in 3D be sure to check out the 3D stadiums in the Steam workshop. Great stuff in there.
