NeL MLEs

Guys, you might want to check in with these guys in a Random Debut save. In testing, I am seeing a bunch of them EG Joe Williams, Webster McDonald, Jud Wilson come into the draft pool as scrub-level DHs. Joe and Jud appear to have the 99 ID designation attached, so I don't know if that is the issue.

Screenshots attached.

Thanks, were these players brought in in a future rookie draft? If so, I think I see the issue and we should be able to correct.

No, not that I noticed. But when they weren't taken in the draft they were pushed back to go again in like two drafts' time.

I meant whether they were players in the inaugural draft pool, or came in later in the save.

Were you using limited years in your run too?

Later in the save and no pre-1901 players.

Matt - where are these guys in the database now? I can't see them in either the Master or MiLBMaster csv files.

EDIT, never mind - I found them; they have different debut years than I had expected and that were used in the InteGREATed mod.

Thx

I have noticed that the 99 in the ID number shows up in many Negro League players. But it has not caused any issues that I can see.

I presume because those are the ones whose Baseball Reference pages have 99 IDs also. I believe NeL HoFers who didn't play in MLB got those so they would show up in the search box before the NeLs were recognized as major leagues, and they just kept those afterwards.

In the OOTP25, we used -98 & -99 tags for the MLE players. In the MLEs that OOTP has, everything ties to the real BBR ID (which, as you note, include real -99s). In the OOTP26 edition of the mod, we'll deconflict from those IDs. My draft of it has -89's.

When do you expect your NeLMod for 26 to be ready?

I'm working on it literally as we speak. Trying to add a few more people since I have the csv files spread across my desktop...

Hi, LansdowneSt, it's me again. I know you said you're not a Mac guy, so I don't expect you to solve my problem. But my OOTP 26 crashed and won't reopen despite multiple tries, uninstalls, reinstalls of newer patches, etc. I posted this on the Technical Problems page over a week ago, but there have been no responses or suggestions from Tech Support. How long does it usually take to get a response?

Also, on a separate issue, what is the name of the schedule you used in the NeL Mod? Something like:

ILY_BGN_G156_SL1D1T5SL2D1T5_C_T10-L96-I60-A0.lsdl
or
major_league_ml_c_1920_ap.lsdl
or
ILN_BGN_G154_SL1D1T3D2T3D3T3D4T3SL2D1T3D2T3D3T3D4T 3_C_T24-D46-N108.lsdl

I can figure out what it means (leagues, divisions, # of teams), but I can't find one in the list that matches the NeL Mod schedule. What did you use?

Thanks again.

The first month of release is pretty busy and at my day job a ton of people are off for Spring Break heading into Easter. Give it some time. I don't think there is a typical response time direct from OOTPD, and I'm loath to speculate on the average wait. It really is just as time permits.

Post a link to it here, in case they read this thread first and so can jump to it easily.

As for schedule, because the four NeL teams, we added to the mod become the 1961/62 expansion teams, I think we simply used the '61 and '62- schedules. Or, seeing that we paralleled those seasons, the game autoloaded them for us as it was a structure it had at the ready and so, on its own, grabbed it.

NeL Mod for 26

How's it going. I noticed the 55 patch had a NeL related change to the game.

The patch addresses the fact that the injury proneness was likely tied to the limited stats in the database and not the ones in the MLEs. The MLEs are essentially handled like neutralized stats in that it looks to them to make stats whereas the mod just made the stats the stats. I suspect it now looks to them for proneness.

It's coming along. Once I built what I needed in Excel to get what I needed for the batting.csv to make it simple, it was going so well, I just started to generate the OOTP stats for every hitter. I'll thank myself later for having everyone at the ready even if it slows me a little in the interim.

problem solved

Well, thanks to an insight from Matt Arnold, I have my games up and running again.,Apparently, when I copied the license key from the jpg file I had of the license number I picked up some artifacts from who-knows-where. On 26, there were spaces after two of the dashes in the number; on 25, there was a space at the beginning of the number. Once I fixed that (and determned that the "Computer ID” was the manufacturer’s serial number), everything went well. I reimported all the lg. files and was back in business.

The datapath problem remains. I’ve found a couple of work-arounds for importing and accessing the correct stats database. I just posted an entry in the “recommendations for future versions” page. I suggested making the datapaths editable so that you can put your OOTP files wherever you want them. We’ll see.

I just wanted to bring you up to date on my situation and to thank you again profusely for your help. I hope the NeL Mod for 26 is coming along.

LansdowneSt, I found a picture in the photos folder that that is attached to the wrong name. Or is it the right name, just the wrong person? Check out my Rube Foster post in the Historical and Fictional Simulations section.

No attachment.

There were two Rube Fosters though. One played for the Red Sox in the 1910's. It is likely there is a photo file named "Rube_Foster" and, assuming that photos use the same naming convention as facegens, it ought to be changed to the Red Sox pitcher's Historical Minors ID to prevent it from going on every Rube Foster out there. Historical images on the NeL Rube should be found, sized and saved and similarly assigned his Historical Minors ID as a file name.

That's why I wrote my post. I'm playing a game and have the black Rube Foster on my team. When I was in the rookie draft before the 1913 season, I saw Rube Foster among the rookies: I looked at his picture and it was the black RF. That set me off on a quest which led to my post and to writing a short Abbott and Costello routine like "Who's on first?". Check it out.

By the way, just for fun, I drafted the white RF, so now I have 2 RF's pitching for me.
