Tone Back the Retirements

Created a Replay 1954 Start. Seems that during the 50's, I have had numerous Players retire way too Early. Jim Bunning, he ain't making the HOF because he retired at age 26. Roger Craig will never star for the Mets, because he retired at age 27. I could go on, but am I the only one? Is it possible to slow retirements?

I think you'll find this has been addressed in Patch 45. Devs are advising if you've manually adjusted your aging settings to be mindful of an overcorrection and maybe pull them back closer to default.

Go to league settings/historical, and click "players retire as they did historically". Works even for random debut, as players then retire at the age they retired in real life, regardless of the season year.

I was always under the impression that RD leagues never clicked "players retire as they did historically." I would like a clarification from the developers.

I hope you are correct!

I'm not sure why you wouldn't be able to use that option.

To me, though, it would only make sense if you are also using Recalc.

Regarding the OP, we probably need more details about your league. What was Bunning's career like? Had he been injured and/or flamed out? If you aren't using Recalc an alternative development/aging path is going to be possible.

Garlon posted a set-up guide and he said to leave the box unchecked.

Ok? But Garlon's guide is just recommendations. They aren't the only combination of settings that can/should be used.

Retire According to History in RD games was made possible last year. Prior to that, it was not possible because the game didn't understand the players were out of synch with real time.

So it the age that applies, not the year of retirement?

Technically, If you have an RD game and RAH on, I think it is when the stats in the db run out unless the player is flagged as not retired in the db in which case the development engine then turns on. Whereas there used to a literal year in the db labeled “final year” that drove it.

That was true, but it was one of the new features of OOTP25 - now RD players retire at their age-season as they did in real life if you click that. Previously everyone would have retired immediately.. Now it works great.

Under what circumstances would a player's stats have run out but he's flagged as not retired in the db?

Modern day players in a random debut league. For example, Aaron Judge will not have any stats past the age of 32.
