So what are we doing with the Athletics?

Whats the general plan on how to handle the Athletics after the initial season?

Obviously they aren't going to stay in Sacramento with a 14,000 cap stadium in Sacramento.

It has been settled that they will play in Sacramento for three seasons until the Vegas stadium opens in 2028. They have an option to play a fourth season if the Vegas stadium isn’t ready until 2029.

According to to Wikipedia, here are the dimensions of Sutter Health Park.
Left field: 330 feet (101 m)
Center field: 403 feet (123 m)
Right field: 325 feet (99 m)
Backstop: 58 feet (18 m)
I don’t see it available for download in the 3d Models mod section. Does OOTP give a generic default stadium when you play as the A’s?

3D Sutter Health Park is included with the game.

oh good, ive been away from OOTP for a couple of years due to some serious health issues having me in the hospital in and out constantly...

so do we just go to the team settings/ball park editor and fill in the info? or is there something more specific i have to do? or does it automatically update when i get to year X?

I just checked it myself. Play any game on the schedule with the Athletics as the home team, and you will automatically be playing in Sutter Health Park. If you want to make sure, select Athletics from the team menu, then click Team Settings. Towards the top right you should see Sutter Health Park next to where it says "Ballpark name". That's assuming you're playing a standard MLB season from 2025. Or are you trying to play 3D Sutter Health Park for the A's in Historical?

Im doing a standard game with all leagues selected. No changes from there except for the ratings from stars to 20/80

so youre saying if i go to any game in 2026 it will automatically show Sutter Health Park?

If you start a standard league in 2025, The A's will play their home games at Sutter Health. You don't have to do anything.

I get that but i started a standard game from the default which is at the beginning of the 2025 season, im asking what do i do with the file to reflect the change?

Like if i start March of 2025 in real life they are in Sacramento, but if i play through to 2026 and on does it automatically switch or do i have to go into the editor and make changes?

Sorry for the confusion i think im understanding what youre saying but im not 100% sure. I appreciate your input.

Actually...... now i confused myself. Sacramento is where Sutter Health Park is that part is right... I guess what i am asking is what happens beyond it when they are supposed to go into the new stadium.

I know you or someone else said that they are going to be in sacramento for awhile. But if you sim the game 20 years up the road how do we put them into their new location...

Sorry I completely blew up my own line of thinking LOL

Sorry, fixed my post. If you start in 2025, current year, you don't need to do anything.

I saw I put 2026, meant 2025. Sorry for the confusion.

As far as if you go past the future, you'll have to try and find a 3D Model of the New Stadium in Vegas.

Since OOTP has an MLB License they can only do what the real A's do. So the next 2 versions and possibly 3, will have the A's at Sutter Health.

I'm not sure if any of the Mod Makers are working on a new stadium or not. I don't even know if there's an official drawing available to view.

just opened one of my test saves. From what I can tell in 28 or 29 the Athletics will get a generic stadium and unless relocated will become the Las Vegas Athletics

I'm starting the 2027 season with the A's later today, that would be cool if they do move in 2028, the 14k stadium capacity is rough, lol

What did I do with the A's and Sutter park in my long running imported game?

Well I'm in 2047 and I left the A's in Oakland. I will move them when they actually move to LV and OOTP has a stadium in the game.

What that means is I have a beautiful Sutter park not being used. Rather than having it go to waste I made it my "Spring Ballpark" using the instructions from this old thread.
https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...d.php?t=323995

The park factors for the default Spring Ballpark aren't that much different than those for Sutter. Add in OOTP's park factors for Sutter are a "best guess" at what they will be in an MLB season. With that in mind I kept the default park factors and only imported the 3d park, and typed in Sutter's dimensions.

I've always enjoyed playing out ST games. Sutter Park's availability has made is even better.

I ran my oakland file until 29, i had to sell all of my players and basically went bankrupt due to lack of revenue... thats why i asked in the first place, what do we do with the team? I might start a file in 2023 or 2024 and play through with them staying in Oakland or something or maybe just move them to Oakland and change the name to LV Athletics or something
