Can you play historical with the AHL?

I played FHM6 back in 2020 and recently started playing FHM10. I'm really enjoying the experience. I'm currently reading a book about the history of the Cleveland Barons, and decided to start a save with the Barons in the 1950 AHL. But there doesn't seem to be an option to play in the AHL. I see an NHL with several teams, but no AHL and no Cleveland Barons.

Am I missing something? Is the AHL not playable in historical games?

As I said, I'm new to FHM10, so maybe I missed something in the game setup screens.

Historical AHL is playable in FHM11, not in FHM10.

So far my experience with FHM10 has been a lot of fun. I'm disappointed, though, that so few people are talking about it. I asked on Reddit for recommendations on easy European teams for an FHM10 novice to play, and got only a couple responses, and really general ones at that.
