Was Kneeing really a problem in the 80's?

So I took a dive and bought FHM 11. It'll be the first one that I've owned since version 1.

I started a historical sim in 1987, and the penalty counts are absolutely outrageous. I just had a preseason game with 18 power plays between the two teams, and its not the first time that has happened.

And the majority of the minor penalties are... you guessed it... Kneeing?

Is there any way to adjust penalty counts etc. or is this actually how the game is?

I've had the same issue in my 80s saves as well, with the additional issue of the kneeing/charging-kneeing situation.

I am having this problem since this morning! I thought I was crazy. I started a game with LNAH (a hockey league with a lot of fighthing) and had 0 fight but a lot of kneeing. Then I started an historical game with Montreal in 2007 and the same problem occurs. I have already uninstall the game

Still having the issue? It seems like there is no more penalty for figthing.

Very strange, it looks like it might be giving out kneeing penalties where it should be roughing. Is this happening in 2D mode or with the classic engine? I'm not seeing it with either when I start a new game in 1987, but if it's 2D I'm using a test build that's had extensive changes to the penalty system. So if it's something with the penalties in the last update, it looks like the new changes (which will be in the upcoming update) have removed the problem.

I'm simulating games.

I also have not seen a single fighting penalty in games that I've simmed either but players have "fights" credited in the stats section.

Simulating games still uses either the 2D or the Classic engine, you can find out which one you're using by following the steps in the gif below.
