Top players still on FA list

I'm now into my third year and I noticed that there were still a lot of 3 star players available on FA at start of the preseason. They still demand 5 mil plus. They should make them decrease their demand over time just to make sure that these issues never happen. Been a problem for multiple years now in this game.

Seems like there are so many issues with salary and cap...probably need to reduce every demand / new contract by a percentage (say 5%?) and as you state have the game reduce ask as the season progresses. Maybe even in season 3 star signings will only sign 1 year deals at slightly lower price?

Yeah totally agree. I was so annoyed when Edmonton didn't re-sign Evan Bouchard until February for the same salary demand as he had at start of FA. The only reason why they did that was because McDavid was injured for a couple of weeks so that freed up some cap space. When he came back, they got into a problem with the salary cap which then led to them making trades just to get under the cap. Kaapo Kakko was not re-signed by the Rangers so he played in SHL instead of Rangers trading his rights to a team that wants him.

Looks like the only way I would enjoy this game is if I turned the salary cap off. I’m assuming that is an option. Never gonna get a realistic sim with the cap on in this game. Same thing happens every year.

I noticed that salary demand goes down in August but it gets raised again when it's time for pre-season. My advice would be that the salary demand steadily goes down to make sure that these players stay in the NHL instead of staying as a FA and eventually sign with an european team (for less money than their demand was, really unrealistic). I hope Jeff see this and consider to change that in a patch.
