Stickware Scheduler causes Invalid Player file

Anyone ever seen this before ? My league file runs fine and then once I use the Stickware Game Schedule when I try to re-open the game I get an Invalid Player File error !!

I've unzipped my backup and tried it twice with the same result... I want Interleague Play so PLEASE HELP !!

Thanks,

I've used it and several others I know have w/ v5 w/o any problems. I think that it depends on "when" you use it.

I'm downloading 4.1.1 as I had 4.0... hopefully that'll help.. When is the "BEST" time to run it ? I know (from prior experience) if you run it too soon it screws up and skips the draft and ST...

I think that running it after ST and before you play the first game(atleast as I remember it has been awhile since I've used it).

Game is closed when you generate the sked, correct?

Yup....

Schedule will create fine within the game if I create a new one, but for some reason Stickware Schedule Generator is crashing the Player file...

I just tried creating a schedule inside the game moving the date back to March figuring maybe being so close to the start date was hosing it, but it still crashed my file.

Steve,

I agree... this worked GREAT with OOTPv4 but this is my first shot at it with OOTPv5.

Maybe Interleague Play should be in the Game itselt (*hint, hint) as that is probably why most people use the Stickware product anyway :-) or at least that's my only reason to use it.

I've posted the ZIP file for the league I'm having problems with at http://www.megalink.net/~chasiv/GSBL/GSBL.zip if you want to 'test it'.

Thanks,
Chas

Ok, d/l ran the stickware and opened the game w/o problem. Did it allow you to do this? I was not able to adjust the day the sked was to begin to Sunday however due to the password protection. But no problems getting this far.

What is the "schgen" dat file?

I noticed that was in the downloaded league file that I have never seen in any other league so i deleted that file prior to generating a schedule and it generated fine, however like Steve I wasn't able to adjust the schedule to the accurate start date nor set the correct all-star game.

Thanks for the insight, still odd as I let it "touch" the league folder and did not have a problem but who knows.

It might be OK if your league is an exact match for stickware's view of it (i.e. MLB 2002). But if you have to change any of the teams, as in my case with a fictional league, I think it ruins league.dat upon saving.

I have used it for fictional leagues just fine and I always let the program write the schedule.dat file into the particular folder. Almost always have OOTP5 open while doing this too

Thanks BleacherBum that WORKED !!!

Thanks also to Steve for all his hard work to resolve this problem. Hopefully Interleague Play will be part of the in-game Schedule Generator in a future patch and/or version.

I strongly believe that the BIGGEST Asset for this game is the OOTP Community and these boards. The game is TREMENDOUSLY better because of all the folks that help out here (especially you Steve).

Thanks again,
Chas
