Outfielder Ollie Brown Pitches Giants To Win As SP
Courtesy of playing full minors OOTP made Ollie Brown a two way player for 1968 based on his minor league pitching record. And Brown started the June 11th 1968 game against the Pirates, pitching 6 2/3 innings, and recording his second win against three losses.
On a 20 scale Brown has ratings of 12 Stuff, 15 Movement, and 1 Control. In an unusual situation for me I'm playing the Pirates with money, so there are some decent hitters in the lineup. While Brown had difficulty getting the ball over the plate, issuing seven walks, he kept the ball in the park until the seventh when Billy Williams hit a solo home run. It was only the fourth hit for the Pirates and cut the Giants lead to 5-3. A pair of Giant left handers, George Stone and Masanora Murakami, shut out the Bucs the rest of the way. Jim Bunning came in for the bottom of the seventh replacing Pirate starter Steve Blass who had given up five runs on nine hits and four walks. Bunning game up two more runs making the final Giants 7 and Pirates 3. You just never know what's going to happen in OOTP baseball. Forgot to mention that with Brown as the 5th starter and with his 6.39 ERA the Giants are in 2nd a mere 1 1/2 games behind the Phillies. He didn't get called up to to Giants until April 24. He's played sparingly in the OF.
