I would like to create a custom schedule for my new game that has 2 leagues with 8 teams in each I would like to schedule 72 games for each team but when I run the "schedule generator" the # of games changes to
a # less than 72. What am I doing incorrectly? Any suggestions? |

There's 1 schedule in here for that configuration, not sure it's an exact match though.
https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...d.php?t=324385 Edit - sorry, it's for 1 sub league, won't do for you. |

Just out of curiosity, what schedule configuration are you going for? I have a 16 team California fictional league with 2 subs and 2 divisions of 4 teams each and originally wanted each team to play the other 3 teams in it's division 24 times(12H/12A) each, the 4 teams in the other division of their sub league 12 times(6H/6A) each, and the 8 teams in the other sub league 6 times each(3H/3A). All 3 games series. Once I did the math and realized that was 168 games for each team I changes it to playing each of the teams in the other sub league 3 times each, so half the teams I play at home and the other 4 away so 24 games total, then play each of the 4 teams in the other division of the same sub league 6 games(3H/3A) each for a total of 24 games, and the other 3 teams in the same division 12 times(6H/6A) each for a total of 36 games. That's a total of 84 games which, in my mind, was too low. I then decided that 100 games sounded good to me but couldn't make that math work in a balanced way so after asking for help on finding a pre made schedule, Kirby Paquette shared a 102 game schedule with me which is what I went with. 16 team schedule, 102 games Designed for the following configuration: 2 subleague, with 2 division each, with 4 teams each 12 games against each team in the same division 6 games against all the team of the other division 6 games against 6 teams of the other sub-league 3 games against 2 teams of the other sub-league No cases of more than 6 straight days without offday No homestands or roadtrips longer than 9 games Game times set at 7:05pm, Sunday at 1:05pm Season begins Tuesday on or after April 16 Season thus ends Mid August All-Star Game set for Tuesday of 10th week of season (mid-late June) I'm sure many would say 102 games each is too high for a 16 team league but I don't think it's ridiculously high. One thing I wish OOTP 25 could do was automatically change the milestones based on games played for a particular league. If I'm wrong about there being no way to do that other than by doing the math manually please point me to where that is. Zep |

Are you sure the league reputations of your leagues are set to 10? I noticed when OOTP generates schedules it doesn’t always honor the correct number of games in a season unless it’s a Major League.

well when you give bull**** advice, don't get mad when you get called out.
Checking the auto adjust date will adjust multiple settings. I've never had it change the number of games, but it's the only schedule setting that will change other settings. To the OP, are you generating the schedule during spring training? If so, you are probably just seeing the spring training games being added to the regular season games

Jpeters1734:
Kindly forgive my questioning of your obviously infallible OOTP knowledge. In fact, I am renouncing my religion and am converting to Jpeters1734ism. Does that appease You enough(should I capitalize Your pronouns)? “ To the OP, are you generating the schedule during spring training? If so, you are probably just seeing the spring training games being added to the regular season games” Also, if you bothered to read the OP’s question properly, you would have realized he is seeing FEWER games than expected, not more. I don’t appreciate being told I give “bull**** advice”, and that’s not how you should address anyone on this forum. I don’t care if you’re a “hall of famer”.

The truth is…an in game schedule generator where you can adjust many variables (rest days, weekends, number of games, sub leagues etc) is way overdue.
I know this is likely a daunting task for the development team, but it makes a lot of sense to me since they removed so many of the international leagues. |

Run an internet search for 'AI sports schedule maker'. Quite a few results to peruse, although I can't speak to the efficacy of the suggestions.

Yeah, but then you have to get it in the correct format that OOTP can read. I have no idea how those in the past have made custom schedules or what software they used to do it. But relying on their mods is incredibly limiting if you're trying to build any sort of deep fictional league universe. Last edited by Left-handed; 09-09-2024 at 04:53 PM. |

If, on the other hand, you don't want an interleague format, then the problem might be that 72 games doesn't work very well for an 8-team league. You get 10 games against each opponent with 2 games left over. 70 or 84 games would work much better. |
